Friday November 6th – Daytime Stroll
Looking for a new place to stroll with your infant/toddler? One place that’s often left off the "must-see” list is the Confucius Temple. Go late in the afternoon on a weekday for a tranquil outing free from tourist hoards. Right outside the gates is one of Beijing’s nicest veggie restaurants, Xu Xiang Zhai serving buffet style cuisine (perfect for the picky eater) with unexpected treats. Give your kid some culture at an early age and enjoy one of Beijing’s sites crowd-free. Saturday November 7 – Movie night at The Schoolhouse
The first Saturday each month, The Schoolhouse hosts movie night. All movies start at 6.30pm. Beyond the Great Wall & Land of the Panda from BBC’s Wild China documentary (in English, traditional Chinese subtitles). Free. Saturday, November 7 – Meet a Children’s Book Writer
Meg Harper, author of the humorous My Mum series (for 10-13 year olds) featuring Kate and her embarrassing mom will make an appearance in Beijing. She’ll be talking about her most recent book, Saint Jenni, about an 8-year-old who tries her hardest to be a saint.10-11am. Saturday, November 7 – First Ski Session of the Season
Did last week’s dusting of snow across Beijing get the kids psyched for the winter sports season? It may melted but live out your wintertime ski fantasies in the indoor climate-controlled ski slopes at Qiaobo Ice and Snow World with a 150m bunny sloe and a 260m long slope. Kids 3 and up only. Saturday November 7- Sunday November 8 – Xidan Joycity Food Festival
Ever wanted to see a Guinness World Record broken? See the largest bean mosaic at this food festival and eating competition. Cooking and singing sessions will also be available. Catch an eating competition and dance performances. Open your mind, challenge your stomach and satisfy your taste buds.
