Tuck the younger ones in bed under the watchful eye of ayi and take the older kids out for movie night. The latest disaster flick, 2012 staring John Cusack and Amanda Peet, has hit cinemas. Following a massive explosion on the surface of the sun the world is on course for immanent disaster. Armed with some choice pieces of information, Jackson Curtis (played by Cusack) begins a desperate struggle to save his family. Full of impressive graphics and amazing scenes of disaster, this film may not be educational but it sure is fun. Playing at Megabox, Sanlitun.

Etonkids invites students and their families to celebrate Harvest time with traditional foods from around the world. Bring your family’s favorite dish and share in a gigantic potluck dinner. There’ll be loads of games and crafts to entertain the kids and of course parents are all welcome to join in the fun.

Sat 21: WAB’s Annual Charity Bazaar
Just in time to make your holiday shopping a breeze! Check out unique arts and crafts from dozens of artisans and vendors, as well as great food and live entertainment. Money raised will go towards a new heating system for a local migrant school. Parking available.

Sun 22: Books for kids, time out for parents
Give your voice a rest and let someone else take over story time for a while. City dwellers can head to The Bookworm in Sanlitun for their much-loved Kids Club with teacher Hannah. Activities include reading, games, and music. For kids ages 4 and up. RMB 20 per child. For those who live in Shunyi, check out the new story hour at The Pomegranate. Along with a story or two, kids receive free popcorn and a soft drink. Suitable for kids ages 7 and under.
