Kitty and Ivan Ho
The Destination
Aswan, Abu Simbel, Luxor, Giza, Hurghada, Cairo
The Plan
Kitty and Ivan sent their son, 3-year-old Jovian, off to Hong Kong to stay with Ivan’s parents, so they could enjoy a little getaway from their busy work schedule. They signed up for a package tour to Egypt, departing from Hong Kong. The itinerary was well-planned by the agent, who took care of everything from the plane tickets and transportation to the hotel. The 10-day package from Wing On Travel (www.wingontravel.com) came to approximately RMB 10,000 per person.

Most Romantic Part
The most romantic part of the couple’s Egyptian getaway was their three-day cruise along the Nile River. Away from the hustle and bustle, they were able to relax and enjoy the tranquil surrounds and stunning scenery of this ancient waterway. Kitty and Ivan enjoyed spending time together over dinner and a glass of wine. After being married for six years and having a 3-year-old  son, they relished the quality time together.

Sightseeing
The trip was packed with activities including camel riding at the Pyramids, snorkeling in the Red Sea, riding a four-wheel-drive through the desert, visiting the local markets, and learning to read hieroglyphics on ancient temples. Big-name tourist spots on their itinerary included the Pyramids, the Sphinx, Luxor Temple, Valley of the Kings, and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut.

Highlight of the Trip
The couple loved their four-wheel-drive trip to the desert. The high speed of the bumpy ride only added to the excitement. After journeying half an hour away from civilization, they found themselves in the middle of the desert, whereupon their tour guide walked them up a sandy dune for a view of their amazing surrounds. Following their desert trek, Kitty and Ivan enjoyed authentic home-cooked food and watched a traditional dance performance. It just happened to be the same day as the Chinese
Mid-Autumn Festival, and one day the couple will never forget.

Travel Tips
Kitty and Ivan went in mid-October while it was still very hot in Egypt. They recommend that travelers bring lots of sunscreen, a sturdy pair of sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, and wear loose, long-sleeved tops to protect themselves from the harsh sun.
