The Travelers
Charlie & Josephine Dang and their twin daughters Lauren & Megan (6)

The Plan
The Dang family planned a two-week holiday split between Hong Kong and Bali. They used Beijing Li Heng Ticket Service (6591 7997) to book their Beijing to Hong Kong roundtrip tickets, but went online to book their Cathay Pacific roundtrip flights from Hong Kong to Denpasar, Bali. Once in Bali, they chose to stay at The Laguna Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua. The family had three things in mind when traveling to Indonesia – sun, sand, and spas.

The Best Part
The Dangs all agreed that Waterbom Bali was the best part of their vacation. Waterbom is a huge water park filled waterslides, rides, pools, a tropical forest, a spa, and even food courts. Park entry, tubes and mats cost the family of four a total of USD 72. Lauren and Megan loved it, and even mom and dad enjoyed themselves. The park has an ingenious cash-less payment system, where credit is stored in special wristbands, allowing visitors to leave their wallets in their locker. The Dangs had such a great time, they went back the very next day!

Expect a Stopover
There are no direct flights between Beijing and Bali, so it takes a full day to arrive at your destination. When planning your vacation, allow two days for traveling.

Wonderful Food
Bali is full of great food and the Dangs shared their favorite restaurants with us. Head to Mosaic for their beautiful outdoor dining, or try Ku De Ta for ocean views. Their most unexpected dining surprise was the wonderful food at Kayuputi in the St. Regis Bali hotel. Check out the open kitchen and be escorted to your table over pools studded with stepping stones.

Family-Friendly Vibe
The Dangs were able to walk from one beach to the next. They loved the kids club at the The Westin Bali where the kids could be entertained all day allowing mom and dad some well-deserved time off. The clan also went for a day trip to Ubud where they hit the markets and enjoyed yummy local cuisine.

Travel Tips
The Dangs recommend that families bring lots of SPF 30 sunblock.
