New parents David Tseo, director of marketing at Park Hyatt Beijing, and Samying Huie, partner at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, have recently relocated from bustling Shanghai. The family has been busy getting their 4-month-old Katelyn settled in, but they’ve already fallen in love with Beijing’s cultural side.

Favorite Restaurant
We normally go to hotel restaurants because they’re more baby-friendly – good service and more space for the stroller. Our favorite is Made in China.

Baby Clothes
We have very generous friends, so Katelyn has enough clothes to last her for a year! We also go to Xidan; my wife loves the shops there.

Lazy Sunday
We enjoy going to International Food Warehouse (IFW) for brunch. They have a kid’s corner and great selection of food. There are no lazy Sundays with a newborn!

Day Trip
We haven’t been on a day trip yet, but we really want to visit the Summer Palace and find a non-touristy part of the Great Wall. We heard you can hike the Great Wall for hours!

Spring Festival Plans
Stay at home and enjoy some relaxing evenings indoors.

Nights Out
We enjoy going to Q-Bar – it’s a cute little place with great drinks.

Family Ritual
When we were in Shanghai, the family would get together for a big home-cooked dinner every weekend. My wife loves to show off her cooking, but we are still developing our Beijing rituals.

Rainy Day Activity
We enjoy lounging at home with our newborn. She’s becoming more inquisitive and we’re both having a great time playing with her and exploring new games.
