International Food Warehouse (IFW)
Only available on their weekday a la carte menu, International Food Warehouse’s fish and chips is the priciest of all our picks, but well worth it for the authentic taste. Parents will appreciate the attentive service and sleek décor.
Mon-Fri 7.30am-10pm, Sat-Sun 10.30am-10pm. B1/F, Park Life, Yintai Center, 2 Jianguomenwai Dajie, Chaoyang District (8567 1568)
Orange Tree Bistro
What’s better than nibbling on fried fish and potatoes while sitting outdoors? If the weather permits, then Orange Tree Bistro’s courtyard and rooftop deck are a perfect fit. The kids are free to run around as you sit back and enjoy the view.
Daily 11am-11.30pm. 27 Dashibei Hutong (near Yandai Xiejie, north of Houhai lake), Xicheng District (6401 7797)
All-Star Bar & Grill
Considering its distinctly American aesthetic, it may come as a surprise that All-Star sports some of the best fish and chips in Beijing. The fish, which comes in huge portions, is a perfect combination of flaky and moist. After the family has finished eating, the kids can play in Solana’s water feature.
Mon-Fri 5pm-2am, Sat-Sun 11am-2am. Bldg 5, 1/F, Solana, 6 Chaoyang Gongyuan Lu, Chaoyang District (5905 6999)
As the name suggests, this restaurant offers a variety of fish and crustaceans – all in a comfortable bistro environment. Kids can let off some steam running around in Nali Patio’s central courtyard while mom and dad finish their meal.
Daily 11.30am-midnight. 1/F, Nali Patio, 81 Sanlitun Beilu, Chaoyang District (5208 6038)
Pass By Restaurant
Pass By offers a travel-inspired atmosphere and a great selection of kid-friendly food. The reasonable prices and Nanluogu Xiang location make this a fun daytime pit stop, but it becomes less appropriate for families as the night progresses.
Daily 11am-11pm. 114 Nanluogu Xiang, Dongcheng District (6400 6868)
