We Like … Klinko Kids’ Furniture
Established by Chadwick Parker, Klinko makes eco-friendly children’s furniture on the outskirts of Beijing. We chatted with the man behind the designs.

Why kid’s furniture?
When I was growing up, my mother operated a daycare center that had 70 kids a day. I loved looking at the creative kids’ furniture and playground catalogs that sales reps would give her. I’ve been pursuing and working in design related fields ever since. I believe that when children enjoy the place they are studying and playing in, it is hard to get them to stop.

How did Klinko get started?
Our company started with a volunteer interior design project: I was asked to design a creative classroom that would inspire Grade 1 Chinese students to learn English. I designed the entire classroom from top to bottom and began looking for a manufacturer that could create the custom desk pieces for the classroom.

What about community involvement?
We want to transform basic classrooms into truly amazing and creative spaces for students. We are currently working with Compassion for Migrant Children (CMC) on a project that takes this concept to an entire community.

Where can people buy your furniture from?
We are currently doing sales from our warehouse and delivering around Beijing. We have started approaching stores around Beijing and will hopefully have our kids furniture in multiple locations very soon.

Klinko products are available at BabyGro in Central Park. See Directory for listing. For more information, visit www.klinkokids.com.
