Sometimes all you need is to devour the biggest, cheesiest pizza-pie you can find. When this urge hits you, head to Kro’s Nest. The pizzas are constructed on homemade dough, have heaps of great toppings, and are without a doubt the biggest in Beijing.
Before diving into the deep dish, order a salad or appetizer to share. The fruit-Caesar salad (RMB 38) takes this classic and gives it an Asian twist by adding dragon fruit and mangos. The drink menu has some personality: The banana milkshake (RMB 34) is fantastic, and the cola and root beer floats (RMB 25) echo back to this pizzeria’s American influences.
The pizza menu spans from the ordinary to the downright crazy. One large pizza will easily feed a family of four. Try the Pardon the Pesto pizza with Beijing duck (large RMB 170), the savoury Chicken Alfredo with roasted garlic (large RMB 145), or as its name suggest, the vegetarian Veg-Head (large RMB 140). The dessert menu is indulgent and takes a few creative liberties. The Rocky Road Rice Krispy Pie (RMB 45) is quite the tackle, so save some room.
The ambience is modern and playful, with an entire wall of live flowers and a selection of free-to-play arcade games. For little pizza-eaters, the Nest offers booster seats.
