Charity Updates
The news just keeps getting better and better! Roundabout’s continuing book fair at BSB has raised RMB 120,000 to date, and that number keeps growing! The funds have been donated towards an urgent appeal by New Hope International to help a one-month-old baby boy desperately needing surgery. From the book fair sales and private donations, this little boy will be able to receive the help he needs. Any additional money raised from the book fair will now go towards helping other children. In particular, Zheng Silin is a baby boy requiring cataract surgery at a cost of RMB 20,000. If his needs are met and there are still monies available, other children will be helped, too!
*Remember, the book fair continues to run at BSB from now until past the October holiday (until October 14), so do continue to stop by the school for great book selections. Also, children’s books are still in great demand for this sale and beyond. Please consider donating.
*An update from the annual Radiance Bazaar held on September 14: RMB 15,200 was raised from the charity bazaar table fees and raffle tickets, all of which will go to Agape Family Life House to treat Qing, who suffers from brittle bone disease. Rey Huang of Radiance thanks ALL who supported this event!
Health and Fitness
*Aqua Warriors Swim Club has become quite popular! They now have a website to answer all your questions about their program, and they are changing workout locations from the Para-Olympic pool to BSB on weekends! Go to www.aquawarriorsbj.com to see what they are all about.
*BSB will host another great Coffee Morning on Monday, October 10 from 11-noon in the school’s Secondary Library. The topic is “Healthy Eating” by Registered Dietician Carlynn Sze of BJU. Come participate in the discussion on eating healthy and keeping fit, followed by a lunch afterwards at Little Italy.
