A fixture on Nanluogu Xiang since 2008, NLGX stocks Beijing-inspired t-shirts for adults and kids (ages 1-8), eco-friendly accessories, and an in-house cycling brand called Kommute. The brand’s t-shirts (RMB 130-150) feature minimalist but playful designs: an origami fire-breathing dragon, a typographical map of China (complete with geographically-accurate city locations), and more.
“Each t-shirt has a story,” says co-founder Michel Sutyadi – a story that is recounted on the clothing tag. A recent bestseller is the kids’ Happy Panda t-shirt; the design was such a success that customers demanded adult versions. “Now the whole family can match,” laughs Sutyadi.
We love NLGX’ spacious totes (RMB 275-450), hoodies and pullovers for bicycle commuters (RMB 550-585), and Kommuter bags made from soft “paper wool” (RMB 330-350), a unique material derived from paper pulp. You’ll also find Totobobo air pollution masks (RMB 150), Crumpler bike bags from Australia, and sneakers by K-Fu, Shulong, and United Kranes. With a newly-opened third store at Beijing International Capital Airport, the sky’s the limit for NLGX.
