Digging into a pizza from Gung-Ho! Gourmet Pizza Factory is one thing; making your own is another entirely. Launched in the spring, Gung-Ho! Kids Pizza School allows kids aged 5 and up to put together their very own thin-crust creation – the perfect place for a birthday.
The premise is simple: Gung-Ho! makes the dough and sauce, the children pick their own toppings, and the restaurant takes care of all the cooking. Designed for groups of six to eight kids, the pizza parties last about one hour and are hosted by Gung-Ho!’s affable Marketing “Ninja” Rich Akers. The process is kept purposely simple, but the finished product can be surprising.
“One kid rolled his pizza into a solid ball. I asked him, ‘Are you really going to eat that?’ He replied, ‘If you cook it, I’ll eat it!’ And he did!” Another junior pizza chef made the tiniest of pizzas. “There was literally one pepperoni on it,” laughs Akers. For now, Gung-Ho! Kids Pizza School is only offered at the chain’s Lido location. And kids can take advantage of the padded playground behind the Lido restaurant when the weather is nice. At only RMB 80 per child, the pizza party is an affordable option for birthday parties. What’s more, Gung-Ho! offers a free soft drink for up to three adults.
