If you’ve never played laser tag before, you’re missing out. The premise is simple: Two teams, wearing vests embedded with different-colored sensors, attempt to score points by “shooting” their opponents with laser guns. When someone gets hit, the vest flashes, vibrates, and deactivates for a few seconds, putting that team member temporarily out of commission. Laser tag is a great birthday activity for older kids and teens; StarTrooper Laser Tag in Wangjing is geared towards kids 1.3m and over. The huge arena is made up of two large rooms with different obstacles and objects to hide behind; the games’ difficulty levels are augmented by special effects like fog and different-colored lighting. There are several game modes: team, free-for-all, simpler games for kids, and more. Laser tag is best enjoyed in groups of 10 or more; If you’re a big group, the entire venue can be rented out for RMB 1,680 an hour (weekdays only). After a 15-minute bout, each player gets a printout with the number of hits they made and the number of times they got hit. Participants can then kick back, enjoy a complimentary soda, and compare scores. Suit up!
