Quaint, whimsical, and alive with colorful patterns, Tang’ Roulou captures the simplicity and joy of childhood with an artistic flair. Designers Amélie Péraud and Pierre-Yves Babin draw much of the inspiration for their cloth creations from traditional Chinese culture, especially hutong life. “The Chinese way of making clothes is really special,” explains Babin. “Most of our work is inspired by yesterday’s China, when things were made by hand.” Indeed, all of Tang’ Roulou’s products are handmade. Adorable and functional baobao angel nest infant sleeping bags (RMB 380) are decorated with classic cloth buttons, and a wide array of traditional Chinese style dresses, shirts and two pieces (RMB 290-520) are also available. Though the shop caters to children aged 8 and under, there are some clever goodies that anyone would love. The colorful cloth bags come with adjustable straps to suit children, teens, or adults.
