We Love You, Dads
This year Father’s Day falls on Sunday, June 16. To celebrate, spend the day before with the whole family at the beijingkids Father’s Day “King for a Day” party at Xian, EAST Beijing. Row, Row, Row Your Boat
Wednesday, June 12 is Dragon Boat festival, also known as Duanwu Jie. Celebrate by eating zongzi (glutinous rice with fillings wrapped in bamboo leaves) and watching the famous dragon boat races in Houhai or Qinglonghu Park. See Directory under Fun Stuff for park information.
Splish, Splash
It’s June already and Beijing’s heat can be unbearable at times. Find some relief at one of the city’s many swimming pools and water parks, such as Crab Island, Tuanjiehu Park, Splash Recreation Club, and more.
Oh, Canada!
Celebrate the 146th birthday of Canada on Saturday, June 29 at the Canadian International School in Beijing (CISB). This Canada Day event will be full of family-friendly activities, from a ball hockey tournament, Canadian cuisine, music performances, prize draws, and the annual Chili Eating Contest sponsored by the Beijinger!
Into the Deep Blue
SinoScuba offers safe scuba diving lessons for the whole family (kids aged 10 and up) and has since 2003. Here’s your chance to swim with tropical fish, turtles and sharks. Admire the homes at Five Roads, take a ride on the Eye of Tianjin ferris wheel, or spend some time at Binhai Theme Park, the world’s biggest military-themed park.
On Two Wheels in Tongzhou
Grease your gears and take a bike ride along Tongzhou Canal Park. With 60km of waterside paths, you can ride (or walk) as far as you please.
