Older Chinese residents in my compound have pitched up on the sidewalk in their shades, and their little dogs have lost their coats: it’s officially spring in the jing, people!
And it’s not just spring on land – warm weather means water that was frozen solid just a few months ago is now at acceptably tepid temperatures. Great news for participants in Beijing Aofan Sailing Club‘s Youth Sailing Courses who are bound to experience a few dips and dunks during their lessons.
Spring season instruction starts the weekend of April 12-13, with Learn to Sail Level 1 and 2 courses on offer. The Level 1 class is an introduction to sailing which covers the basics with in-class as well as practical instruction. Level 2 builds students up to racing and sailing on their own. The courses cost RMB 1800 for six sessions, which can be chosen from a range of dates and times in April and May, available on their website.
