The Beijing Book Building’s newly opened special section for kids, Kids Fun Space features books, toys, and interactive activities. The space, which is trying to create a reading environment in addition to selling books, as the increasing popularity of online shopping has had a negative effect on sales according to the China Daily.
The area has books for all age groups from picture books for toddlers to story books for older kids and tweens. Kids Fun Space has multimedia items such as computers, toys, seven-dimension theater, and performances on a mini piano. The space is meant to allow children to interact with one another, engage in some arts and crafts and perform on to horn in their talents.
The store holds interactive activities such as story-telling, puzzle challenges, cartoon character shows and magic shows on the weekends. There is currently a Chinese adaptation of the Wizard of Oz playing.
