This Children’s Day (June 1), Xiang Junior is celebrating its first anniversary at Shangri-La Hotel Beijing from 2-4pm. Xiang Junior is a kids' club that offers different activities for children, kid-friendly foods, a playground, and a range of programs.
Children from the ages of 3 to 12 are invited to join this event for free, where they can share a huge birthday cake with playmates, sing songs together with the mascot Baby Bear Tong Tong and paint their interpretation of childhood fun on a 25m scroll.

Premier Wen dunks!

Wen Jiabao dunks ... well, OK so it's more of a layup, and the hoop is only about 6 feet off the ground. Not bad for a 68-year-old though! Photo from Xinhua
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao spend yesterday's Children's Day at a Beijing primary school extolling the virtues of physical education and joining the students for 40 minutes of drills, according to a Xinhua report.
Sporting the traditional black socks-and-running shoes combo, Wen practiced ball handling skills with 6th graders, then played a quick round of 3-on-3. Not too shabby for a 68-year-old guy!

What's up in Beijing on Children's Day?

Perfect timing: attend the official launch of the Shangri-La's Shang Children's Club this Children's Day
The routine's pretty clear on Mother's Day -- roses, box of chocolates, breakfast in bed. Father's Day -- get dad some aftershave or soap on a rope and let him go golfing and he's pretty sorted out.
But what the heck to do for Children's Day? Celebrated without fail each year on June 1 (even when it falls on a weekday), the holiday is a little perplexing in that is calls for a massive celebration of the little blessings but fails to give their parents (who presumably are the ones that are meant to honor their kids on this day) a day off from work.
