University Application Tips

 

For upcoming high school seniors, it is the beginning of the end. But it also the start of a new chapter: university. To begin embarking, one must battle the application process, something that is exciting for some and dreary for others. Either way, here are my tips for creating a strong university application.
 

Combating the Freshman Fifteen

The myth of the “freshman fifteen” hovers in the minds of many teenagers before they head off to their first year of college. Being on their own for the first time with the temptations of junk food and the stress of university can mean the fear of weight gain becomes a reality. Students generally only gain an average of five pounds, but the idea that such gain is inevitable can make the myth a self fulfilling prophesy.


College Daze: Part II – Sending Your Child Off to College (Yahoo!)

 The Good News: You’ve done a remarkable job of raising your child to begin his/her first steps towards higher learning and self-sufficiency.

 
The Bad News: You’re on the hook for 4 (hopefully, only 4) years of tuition, books and beer money. Plus room and board expenses equivalent to the cost of a mid-priced home in America (or 2 parking spots in Beijing).
