It’s difficult to uncover hard figures for the number of stray cats living in Beijing, but even conservative estimates place the total in the hundreds of thousands. Book lovers, rejoice! The 2012 editions of the Capital M Literary Festival (February 25-March 4) and the Bookworm International Literary Festival (March 9-23) are almost here. Authors, illustrators, adventurers, and storytellers of all stripes will descend on Beijing for special workshops and guest talks. In a city where it can be difficult to find age-appropriate literary events, these two festivals are a rare treat. In order of date, we round up 14 events for kids and teens. (Hurry! Don’t Forget to Attend BCIS’s First Workshop This Year

This Tuesday on September 27 Beijing City International School will hold its first workshop this year entitled Working Memory: A Post-it Note for Your Brain. The school welcomes all parents of BCIS and anyone else interested.
Dr. Tracy Alloway has researched working memory and our ability to hold and manipulate information in our brains. She has termed working memory as a “Post-it Note for your brain.” Working memory has been connected to academic success but there are ways to help children who have working memory difficulties.
