Read and Help Someone in Need

My daughter Julia, (10), and I went to the Roundabout Charity Book Fair at the British School of Beijing in Shunyi last Saturday, September 17.  There were a large selection of books and both Julia and I each bought an arm full of great reads.  Our family loves to read – you don’t have to twist my arm to go to a book fair – but it felt good to buy something for a good cause and knowing that we were helping someone in need.

The Roundabout Charity Distribution Store and the British School of Beijing collaborated to hold this book fair.  Don’t worry if you couldn’t make it last Saturday, you can stop by BSB during school hours  - Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm – until Friday, October 14.   If you have books to donate you can drop them off at the Roandabout Distribution Center Monday through Saturday from 9:30am to 5:30pm.

more from Leslie Simpson of Roundabout:

Quote:

Dear All,

I would like to say an enormous THANK YOU to everyone who has supported our book fair ( by donating, buying or helping ) at the British School of Beijing. Our sincere thanks also to the BSB for being the most fantastic hosts once again.

To date the total raised is an absolutely amazing 116,000 rmb !!!!

I can never get over how by simply recycling books within our community we are able to raise such staggering amounts of money, 100% of which is then used to SAVE or improve children's lives. No deductions for anything. It is incredible and we thank you all ever so much.

CAN YOU HELP TO RAISE THIS FIGURE ????

The book sale will continue, during school opening hours, until the 14th of October.

Sally Hind, our super new book dept manager, and her team are popping over on a daily basis to put out new stock for you. We still have thousands more adult books to put out but...

In order to keep our selection fresh and interesting

WE NEED MORE CHILDREN'S BOOKS PLEASE

If you have time, please do sort through your children's books and consider DONATING any books that they have outgrown or are not favourites. We really do wish to keep offering a super selection and of course we wish to raise as much money as is possible so that even more disadvantaged children can have the surgeries they so desperately need.

YOU have the power to make a difference

Roundabout is YOUR BRIDGE to those in need. Money raised never stays at Roundabout. It is quickly used to support the work of your favourite local charities ( for example, paying for surgeries for children in their care ) or to help others in need throughout China.

We are a free service, please use us to help others.

PLEASE, PLEASE BRING IN YOUR DONATIONS
to one of the following locations:

The Roundabout Store
The British School of Beijing, Shunyi
The Familier
Links Moving Company
The Bridge

Full addresses can be found in the beijing-kids.com directory

Or if you have a large amount of donations, please call us for a pick up. 13718 011 124

MAYBE YOU COULD ORGANISE A DONATION DRIVE IN YOUR PLACE OF WORK / SCHOOL / COMMUNITY ? Then call us to do a pick up.

PLEASE do pass this email on to your friends, neighbours and colleagues.

Thank you so much for doing whatever you can to help.
kind regards
Leslie and the Roundabout team.
