The January/February issue has hit the stands! We’ve scoured the capital’s best eats to give you 50 family-friendly restaurants! Whether you find yourself in Shunyi, Lido, Dongzhimen or elsewhere downtown, we’ve got you covered. So bring the whole family to chow down on our selection of Beijing’s best dim sum, Indian, burgers, pizzas, vegetarian Peking duck and more!
We also included the Top 5 Places to Dip into Hot Pot for the number one food that warms us up on Beijing’s chilliest nights. Meanwhile, Xiyun Yang shares a recipe on deviled eggs,an appetizer to please your guests. And for your little ones, Geoffrey Weckx of W Dine and Wine shares two recipes for baby food with zing.
Elsewhere in the magazine, regular health columnist Dr. Richard Saint Cyr explains how breakfast can keep you slimmer while Olivia Lee provides practical advice regarding the fussiest eaters.
Winter is here for the long haul, but it’s the perfect time to visit Houhai for ice skating on its frozen lake. Also, peruse the lovely hutong shops, eat pizza and visit the Drum and Bell Tower. But if you really are stuck indoors, then make your own science project: a mouse that climbs up a string! Who knew science could be this fun?
See what our parent columnists are writing about this month. Beijing Baba Christopher Lay comes to grips with the cycle of friendships in Beijing as Sonia Cahill says her goodbyes to Beijing. Also, read-up on what Dulwich College Beijing’s youth has to say about our addiction to the Internet.
As always, find kid-friendly events, search our Directories for anything and everything you’ll need in Beijing, and read about other families’ travel destinations.
