Jiankou to Mutianyu Great Wall Hike
After lunch from the local farmhouse, we start climbing up to some parts of the steep slopes on a dirt trail that leads to the Zhengbeilou Watchtower (991m). Then another 500 meters climbing down, which will take you about 1 hour. It sounded a bit tough but your efforts will be rewarded as you will stand on top of the Great Wall tower where some of the most spectacular pictures have been shot.
Later, we walk to the east on the wall which is the highest point of Jiankou (1029 meters), allowing you to see the entire Mutianyu Great Wall plus much of Jiankou as well. It’s a very enjoyable walk on top of a well preserved Great Wall. After a good hour of walking, we will enter the Mutianyu Great Wall. Another hour downhill on nicely restored Great Wall is how we will finish this hike.
