Jinshanling Great Wall Sunset Hike

From our meeting point (lama temple subway station exit B) our van will head North East for about 2 hours to the border of the Beijing and the Hebei province. After about 1.30 hours we will arrive at an authentic farmhouse for lunch.

A small trail will bring us pass an excellent view point and 15 minutes later we are on the Wild Jinshanling Great Wall. The 10-km long Jinshanling Great Wall shows some amazing defensive features like barrier walls, battlement walls, watchtowers, gun emplacements, shooting holes and horse blocking walls.

We hike down the crumbled section of the Wild Jinshanling for about 30 minutes till we reach the most famous and best preserved section, and partly restored section of the Great Wall. Here you can see how the Great Wall of China looked like during the Ming Dynasty.

We continue our hike all the way up to the General tower with its intoxicating views over all 67 watch towers of the Jinshanling Great Wall. We take our time for some amazing sunset pictures and continue our hike down on the Great Wall. A good half hour later, we meet our driver again. By 9:30pm we arrive back in Beijing with a memory card full of amazing pictures. (Don’t forget to bring snacks for coming back to Beijing as today’s hike will have given you an appetite [;-)]

Level 3:medium-strong

We give this hike a level 3 medium rating, as the trail is not too long but still most of the hike is uphill. If you have a normal physical condition you will enjoy this trip for sure.
