Tour A;-Off the beaten track in Guizhou

This journey will give you a strong contrast between modern life in the teeming metropolis and the traditional tribal existence of minority ethnic groups. Guizhou and Guangxi provide the backdrop to a huge number of Chinese minorities. Perhaps most famously, Guizhou province is known for its well-preserved Miao villages where the traditional identity and lifestyle of this fascinating tribe has been kept alive.  Guizhou not only features a kaleidoscope of colourful minorities, but also contains a geographically distinct natural landscape, 80% of which is mountainous.  The scenery is a lovely mix of steep drops and beautiful rice terraces. Our itinerary is carefully designed for those who want to stay away from the tourist traps, in

order to experience the true essence of the Miao and Dong .Guizhou province is a poly ethnic province in the south east of China, home to the Miao, Dong and Buyi minorities. This province boasts a good variety of high-grade minority culture resources.  Still yet unspoiled by large tourist development as seen in the surrounding provinces such as Guangxi, Yunnan and Sichuan, its relative isolation has made this region one of the best-kept secrets in China. Its stunning landscape, characterized by limestone karst hills, jagged peaks and terraced rice fields, as well as its colourful ethnic minority cultures have made Guizhou a unique natural area where you will find ancient life styles and traditional customs. The Miao are known for elaborate embroidery and exquisite work with silver. Silver accessories are a standard for the Miao people. For more than 400 years, it’s been the custom to decorate oneself head to toe, with silver. A full set can weigh up to ten kilograms. The tradition of wearing silver is preserved by a great number of craftsmen, scattered through the Miao villages. Most of the silver accessories are made by hand in a traditional way. In Guizhou, besides the Miao, the Dong people are said to be the descendants of the ancient Guyue people, with a history of 2500 years. Not only are the Miao people known for their beautiful traditional outfits, but also for their unique style of singing. This tour will offer extraordinary access to cultural and historic sights, from the major cities of Guizhou to remote minority areas with well-known and unknown sights, highlighted by Chinese traditional minority cultures.
