Goose n' Duck Ranch gets an "F"

A mum sent this email the other day and I though it was worth sharing:

"I just wanted to let you know about our experience at the Goose & Duck Ranch. I won't go into too much detail (unless you really want me to), but basically we booked to stay for 2 nights over a weekend, for a family of 5. The reservation was made over the phone and email so with many things confirmed in writing we presumed all would be ok.

"We arrived at 4pm on a Friday and sent our driver home, at 6.15pm our driver returned to take us back home!

"The brochure looks like it was printed when the place opened, as the place is very very run down, the swimming pools are stagnant, with no water movement, so I presume no filtration. There are flies everywhere, and I mean flies, not mosquitoes.

"There was no cot/ crib for my two year old to sleep in even though we had been promised there would be one available.

"There were no fruit drinks available for the children, just fizzy drinks and many of the recreational activities advertised in the brochure were no longer available. My kids were especially looking forward to being inside the large clear balls and moving across water, so we looked for them but we could not find them anywhere, so I asked the person who had originally met us and checked us in and she said "oh we had to cancel that because of the weather". Strange I thought as it is summer so I asked what kind of weather was suitable and she replied " oh, no sorry we cancelled that activity about a year ago".

"Some of the play equipment was so dangerous I would not let my kids anywhere near it. Broken & rusty plaground equipment and ripped trampolines with missing springs, it really is a nightmare.

"There is no way I would ever recommend anyone visiting this place as is such a mess. It could be a great place, but it has been left to rot and needs a serious influx of money to get the place in a basic standard to attract people."

Thoughts? Have you been to the ranch recently? What was your experience?

I totally agree with Zhen. Also went there and was totally disappointed by the experience. If you bring kids, they are in danger. If you go as an adult bunch, you might be okay simply because you can deal with that laughable area they call bowling lanes or the open lake for fishing. But this is definitely not a kid-safe area even though they may advertise it to be such.

Even though it's not very expensive to spend a weekend there, I could have had a better experience pitching a tent in the yard and buying some goodies with the funds instead.

I've often described the place as a combination of Disney World and Apocalypse Now

it bothers me that the place seems to have been at one time a real treasure -- so much ambition, so many things to do ... but now so run down as to be depressing

I also wonder how these places subsist - I mean, are they even making enough money to continue operating?

Haven't been there in over two years, but I remember having a great time. But really, my friends and I were only there for the pool, which was cool, clean and refreshing. I remember that the food was mediocre and the activities were sparse - either not up and running or just run down. It's a shame that the pool isn't clean anymore.
