Question about the Chinese jade "doughnut" on red "string" and Jade Budha on red "string"
Ok..I have been looking on line for information and reasoning ... I know there is..but I cant seem to find the meanings/symbolism for the necklaces, jade bangels, etc that I see so many people wear.
I know I now own and love wearing my dark green jade budha on red string necklace, but I dont really know/understand the significance.
Can someone or many of you spell it out for me, why? the differences? etc. When I go home this summer, I am thinking of taking these home as gifts.
Thanks

Re: Question about the Chinese jade "doughnut" on red ...
ah, i like your way to say it, "doughnut" is so cute...
doughnuts are called yu bi 玉璧, there are different sizes of them in the ancient time. bigger ones can be tied to guys belt in ancient time, they wear weird dresses anyways.
They were always used as gifts for sky, river, sea and etc.(yeah, we think they have gods inside to control the whole thing) or things to go with a rich dead ppl (often found in han dynasty), they can also used as scale?
Buddha jade is just to carry the buddha with you all the time, it might protect you from everything.
Jades can be always used protect from dirty things (don't think it in the wrong way, this means ghosts)
