thinking of looking for a new compound to live in...looking for ideas/suggestions/maybe a good honest realtor
Ok..I am getting brave and am ready to think about leaving my "oasis" of a western apartment at East Lake Villas. I love my compound and cant say enough fantastic things about it...BUT I am ready for a change ... I am looking for suggestions and ideas and input from all of you....Here is my criteria/wants:
live near the Dongzhimenwai/Sanlitun/Tuanjiehu/Gongti (line 2 & 10)
not South of Tuanjiehu or East of Tuanjiehu or West of Beixinqiaolu
or North of Sanyuanli Market
I also want between 250-300sqm
3+bedrooms & at LEAST 2 bathrooms (I have a teenager)
oven not necessary ..but a niceity
washer a must w/ a place I can put/purchase a dryer
under 20K a month
more of a chinese/local neighborhood
clean/safe/with character
So...am I crazy? think this is doable? I need to beable to have my daughter walk to Beijing 55 school, husband ride the subway to Haidian (in under 1 hour each way) and be in a cultural rich area.
there....
I am not in a hurry...would like to move by June if possible

I only move when I have to, because it's a HUGE hassle - packing, moving, unpacking.

hmmm, right next to School 55 there is Season's park, Sun City ( I used to live there). then in Dongzhimen there is of course MOMA (where I live)....there is Ocean Express (also I used to live), right inside you know Ivy Bilingual school...i think there are not THAT foreign, there is feel of local, and prices definitely lower...if you want to be surrounded with local flair...try Dongzhimen Nei instead of Dongzhimen Wai...i interestingly enough lived there too...there are nice compounds, not far from Russian embassy...and still not far from all the places you mentioned...
maybe i'll think of something else later

no seasons park, no moma, no ocean express.....sun city I dont know about..but I have heard....want local...
Dongzhimen Nei sounds extremely interesting...I need a bigger livingroom so I can play my kinect and have more people over for dinner....my darling livingroom is too small right now....thats why I want a bigger place

go Dongzhimen Nei then seriously...just go for a walk along that street and u will see some compounds...even with phone numbers on the windows that are for rent...there are lots of duplixes in that area...i think still possible to find big living rooms...saw some pics....

I would advice to avoid all the SOHO properties, because they are all Commercial + residential. Means you are going to share the elevator and your home compound with hundreds of people working there, would be annoying if you happen to live in a upper floor or having kids who want to run around a lot in the compound.

Thank you everyone! I found a fantastic .. I mean the entire family is excited! about our new Triplex inside the 2nd ring road! It is just what I was hoping for...dreaming and wishing for...and my butt should look much nicer in about 6months of going up 5 flights w/out a lift! lol!!! just in time for summer humidity and heat!
