    FOBISSEA Music Festival 2011 and BSB Christmas Fayre: On November 14, students performed as part of the FOBISSEA Music Festival 2011 at BSB’s Shunyi campus. On December 4, the school held its annual Christmas Fayre at BSB’s Sanlitun campus with food, drinks, and activities for all. November at BISS: In November, students at Beijing BISS International School participated in several activities, including an archeological dig and a “living museum” of famous explorers, inventors, and innovators. Winter Show at MSB: On December 7-9, students from the International Montessori School of Beijing performed their annual Winter Show. This year’s theme was “MSB Salutes,” with numbers from Mary Poppins, The Blues Brothers, Grease, and more. Beatlemania at Children’s House: On December 4, Children’s House International Montessori Kindergarten held its annual Christmas party at the Kerry Centre with Beatlemania.     Christmas Concerts at YCIS: YCIS Beijing had a season of festive Christmas concerts that followed a tour of Christmas caroling at the Park Hyatt Beijing, Westin Beijing Financial Street, and Pangu 7. Festive Fun at BCIS Christmas Bazaar: On November 26, over 1,500 people turned up at the Beijing City International School’s Christmas Bazaar. There were more than 60 vendors and live performances from students. Blessings in Disguise at IAB: On November 24, IAB students performed their first musical, Blessings in Disguise. The show was written by Mrs. Lay, and choreographed by Ms. Rochelle and Grade 10 student Daniel Ki. Korky Paul Visits ISB: From November 1-4, ISB’s Elementary School hosted illustrator Korky Paul, creator of Winnie the Witch, for a week of creativity and storytelling.     beijingkids Santa on Ice: On December 18, beijingkids held its annual Santa on Ice event at Le Cool ice rink inside the China World Mall. Kids skated with Mrs. Claus and her four elves, while Santa received young visitors from his red velvet chair. He posed for photos and gave a gift to each child. Subway provided hot cocoa and cookies, while A Food Affaire brought holiday cheer with shortbread cookies, brownies, mince pies, and punch. BICCO Charity Dinner and Silent Auction: On December 10, Ivy Academy, Kagen and beijingkids hosted the “Unlock the Future” Charity Dinner and Silent Auction at Kagen. The event raised over RMB 200,000 for the Beijing International Committee for the Care of Chinese Orphans. The organizers extend their gratitude to all those who attended, as well as the sponsors who donated items to the silent auction.     BISS Secondary Sports Day: On October 27, students at Beijing BISS International School showed a spirit of competition and friendship at the Secondary School Sports Day. Coffee and Conversation at Ivy Academy: Parenting expert Kathryn Tonges joined Ivy Academy parents for Coffee and Conversation on November 16. She gave a talk about a book she co-authored: Slurping Soup and Other Confusions: true stories and activities to help third culture kids during transition. I Love Reading Day at 3e: On November 12, 3e International School held its annual family event, I Love Reading Day. Elementary students staged, directed, and performed two Chinese folk tales. Chinese Orphans Enjoy Fun Learning Day: More than 20 Chinese orphans from the Guangai School of Orphans enjoyed one fun day with volunteers from the global education provider NCC Education. Terry Fox Run at BCIS: On October 19, 800 students and staff at Beijing City International School turned out for the annual Terry Fox Run, raising wareness and funding for cancer research. Ivy Bilingual School Celebrates UN Day: On October 28, students at Ivy Bilingual School’s Orchid Garden Campus held a UN Day celebration, experiencing different cultures throughout the day. HoK Hosts St. Martin’s Lantern Walk: On November 11, over 200 people joined House of Knowledge for the fifth annual St. Martin’s Lantern Walk through the Beijing Riviera compound.     2011-12 Dulwich Legend Sports Dome Opening

    Dulwich College Beijing recently hosted the grand opening of their Dulwich Legend Sports Dome. The cocktail reception included lively entertainment by the Dulwich Chamber Choir, Dulwich Jazz Band and Chinese Drum Ensemble. Concurrently, guests (including children) were invited to test out the dome area by using a trampoline, participating in a basketball free throw challenge, having a badminton battle with Faye Archer and a celebrity penalty shoot-out with professional soccer player Sun Jihai.   • Santa On Ice 95

    2011-12 beijingkids Santa on Ice

    On Dec 18, beijingkids held its annual Santa On Ice at Le Cool Ice Rink, China World Mall. Kids came to skate with Mrs. Claus and 4 Santa Elves while Santa was sitting in his red velvet chair to hear whispers from the children. Kids had photos with Santa and each child was given a gift by him. With the hot cocoa and cookies provided by Subway, and rosemary shortbread, delicious brownies and decadent mince pies by The Food Affair, holiday cheer was spread all over the ice by the children skating, laughing and singing to the holiday tunes played over the sound system.     CISB Halloween Assembly: On October 24, elementary students from kindergarten through Grade 5 dressed in costume and watched their classmates perform in a variety show. October at Muffy’s Education: On October 30, students decorated their very own ghost lollipops for Halloween. On October 31, the school celebrated the opening of its new kindergarten. Muffy’s founder Gong Qianhuang gave out the lucky draw grand prize: half a year’s tuition and a bicycle. Daystar Academy Visits an Organic Farm: On October 28, kindergarten students from Daystar visited Fangjiayuan organic farm, which provides vegetables, grains, and tofu for the school’s lunch program.     Hilton Beijing Christmas Train Launch and Tree Lighting Ceremony was held on Saturday, December 3rd, 2011. Counting down before an eager audience made up of more than 1,000 visitors, the three-story tall Christmas tree was illuminated to the festive tune of the Christmas Train’s whistle at the Hilton Beijing! The ceremony began with three beautiful Christmas carols by The Lady of China, followed by the highlight of the night – a surprise visit by Santa Claus himself who made a dramatic entrance through the rooftop window, then lighting the beautiful Christmas Tree, and the evening ended with the conclusion of the Charity Bazaar. Dulwich and WAB Choir Students Visit Paris: From October 1-9, students from Dulwich College Beijing and WAB visited Paris on a cultural, culinary and musical journey. The choir performed at Notre Dame and La Madelaine Church. Flying Fingers at BCIS: On September 14, Beijing City International School hosted two world class pianists, Clelia Iruzun and Yoko Ono.     Sunday, October 30: The fifth floor of the Hilton Beijing Wangfujung was transformed into a Halloween wonderland on Sunday at the 5th annual Beijingkids Costume Brunch Ball. Over 200 people made their way through a ghoulish crypt occupied by ghosts and ghouls, past a graveyard and into a party featuring a not-to-be-missed buffet lunch, Halloween games and even trick-or-treating at hotel rooms. Candies from BonBon Bins, portrait photgraphy by Small World, facepainting from Art Family and art stations manned by Ivy Academy rounded out the scene.

    IAB Graduates: On June 2, Seniors at IAB celebrated in style at the China World Hotel with family and faculty. All students took the mic and shared their experiences of studying at IAB. Beijing Playhouse Academy of Performing Arts Presents Three Musketeers: On July 9, student actors of Beijing Playhouse Academy of Performing Arts presented Three Musketeers to an audience of over 100. The 30 student actors, ages 6-14, rehearsed for two weeks to put on the hour-long performance. Summer at My Little Mozart: On April 17, over 100 people attended My Little Mozart’s Spring Recital at the Westin Chaoyang. They also held a Lego Mindstorms Camp in June. Kids worked in teams to build robots and programmed them to perform various tasks. WAB Water Days: June 7 and 8 provided great weather for the WAB Early Childhood Center’s “Water Days.” Nursery and Pre-kindergarten children splashed around in enjoyed a variety of outdoor games and activities. Etonkids Graduation: Etonkids graduates took the stage on June 19 to receive their diplomas. Arts and Math at Harrow: On June 24, Harrow’s Upper School held their annual Dawes Day celebration of mathematics. This year’s mystery number was the school’s new postcode: 100102.     Prize Giving at BSB: On July 1, the British School of Beijing celebrated the achievements of all of their students in the Prize Giving ceremony at both the Shunyi and Sanlitun campuses. Awards were given to students who excelled at their schoolwork and to those who have been model school citizens. Aofan Sailing Club Summer Camp: From July 3 to 9, Aofan Sailing Club held their first summer sailing camp at Beijing Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park. BCIS Graduation: On June 4, 16 seniors from seven countries graduated from the Beijing City International School at an intimate ceremony held near the Shuangjing campus.     Wednesday, June 15 Magic Hospital held its annual charity quiz night, sponsored by beijingkids, at Schindler's Anlegestelle on June 15, with quiz fans from across Beijing turning out to help raise money for orphaned children. Prizes were donated by sponsors including BMW, Doubletree Resort By Hilton Sanya Haitang Bay, Le Spa, Alameda, Vandergeeten and many others.     On Jun 13 Beijing BISS International School provided its students a platform to showcase their talent. Six dance troupes competed in the Dance for Change competition hosted to support BISS Global Issues Network. The judges are the students who buy voting tickets with all proceeds goes to make a difference by buying recycling bins for the School. The event presented a plethora of talented dancers representing their respective Grades in Secondary School. The eloquent young dancers made people believe that it won’t take eons before one of these hidden talents at BISS will be competing at bigger arenas.     Still think graduation ceremonies are the privilege of high school graduates? Younger talents need recognition and celebrating too. The International Montessori School of Beijing (MSB) held their Graduation Party on Friday afternoon June 17, to celebrate their elementary school graduations. Unlike high school graduation parties around town that usually feature emotional tear-driven speeches delivered by students, teachers and parents. MSB’s elementary school graduation party was composed of short speeches from founder and principal Caroline Chen Gaillard and diplomat parents. The fun and short graduation party was followed by a talent show from MSB elementary students called “Let’s Show”. Kids, parents and teachers spent a great afternoon together.     This year’s graduates celebrated with their graduation ceremony on June 28th 2011. Beijing No. 55 High School is a prestigious secondary school in Beijing. The school is a role model for Beijing high schools. No. 55 was founded in 1957, the international baccalaureate section of No. 55 was established in 1994, this was the first school in the Chinese mainland to offer such a diploma at the time.     The British School of Beijing held the Sixth Form (senior year) graduations on Friday 24th 2011. The British School of Beijing was proud to announce their first ever graduating class with 8 graduates from 7 different nationalities (French, Filipino, Korean, Mongolian, Brazilian, British, and Canadian). All the students worked incredibly hard throughout the years culminating into a fantastic ceremony. The first cohort of The British School of Beijing students are going to university across the globe. The British School of Beijing held the year 6 class graduation with over 90 students on Sunday 19th June and Friday 24th June 2011. Moving from primary to secondary school is a huge step for younger students, to mark the occasion graduation ceremonies were held at both campuses; from a very formal presentation and BBQ at the The British School of Beijing Sanlitun campus to an afternoon disco and awards ceremony in the Shunyi campus. Students have grown and achieved much throughout their years in primary school.

The stage was lined with purple and white balloons. THIS’ very own executive principle spoke at the event. Sabina Brady was the guest speaker. Gradates shared a heartfelt slide of memorable pictures. Each gave a personal statement, and said goodbye to one stage of their life while embracing another.

    June 21, 2011 CISB high school senior's graduated. They donned red robes with gold tassels, graduates had a big smile on their faces. The valedictorian speech was delivered electronically, as the graduate had left the country before graduation.     June 4, 2011 the ISB graduation took place. 146 students from 22 countries graduated high school in triumph. Student speakers Daniel Plafker and Melissa Powers spoke at the ceremony. Teachers and parents congratulated the graduating class. A specially prepared vanilla cake with the names of every graduate was written on white chocolate in dark chocolate letters framed by assorted fruits. The reception was held at OLE following the ceremony. Accomplished graduates celebrated prom the week before on May 28th at the Sheraton Hotel.

    June 1, 2011 the YCIS graduation took place. Dressed in black gowns with blue and red ribbons, with black caps, one by one graduates gladly received their diplomas and smiled for the cameras. The graduating class speech was delivered by valedictorian Helen Leung. After the ceremony graduates, faculty, and parents took pictures at the picturesque Honglingjin Park nearby with a backdrop of greenery, a stone bridge, and a clear green lake.     2011-05 WAB Graduation

    May 28, 2011 the WAB graduation took place at the Confucius Temple in a western influenced traditional Chinese style ceremony. The graduates dressed in well-fitted traditional Chinese gowns in black with yellow silk collars and buttons, for a fresh take on the traditional graduation gown. The magnificent setting included ceramic roofs with red buildings and a full on orchestra surrounded by hundred year old trees. Zoe Zheng Zheng Lee the Confucius Scholar gave the graduating class speech. Celebrations also took place last month at prom on April 23rd with a “Phantom of the Opera” theme.

    YCIS Annual Spring Violin Concert: On March 12, primary students performed in the YCIS Annual Spring Violin Concert. 3e Easter Egg Hunt: On April 23, 3e International's Parent Council held its first Easter Egg event with egg and spoon races, egg decorating, egg hunts and a bonnet parade. BCIS Spring in the City: On May 14, over 2,000 people attended BCIS' sixth annual Spring in the City event. There were traditional Arabian dances, a magic show, games, bouncy castles, ball pits and a carousel. All funds raised went to The Library Project charity organization. Sports Day at Daystar: On May 6, Daystar held its annual elementary school Sports Day event.

    May 27, 2011 the BWYA Graduation took place. In their green robes, black caps, and yellow tassels they were dressed for success. Daniel Jung the faculty voted valedictorian gave the graduating class of 2011 speech. Celebrations continued at prom night at Italian restaurant Invito beside the lake in Solana. Students and teachers danced the night away to music provided by the in school band and other student performances.

    May 27, 2011 the BISS Graduation took place at the scenic Garden of the Shangri-La Hotel. In traditional black gowns, white scarves, and red tassels graduates made it to the finishing line. The graduating class speech was delivered by Yu Ann Tan and Frena Hailekiros Gessesse. Refreshments were served following the ceremony, and happiness was all around. The following day students celebrated at prom in Nan Luo Gu Xiang, arriving in rickshaws and posing for pictures in the old historic district.

    May 25, 2011 the Dulwich College Beijing Graduation took place. In black gowns and China red scarves graduates proudly received their diplomas. Jack Kim from Korea gave the graduation class speech. The graduates presented a Red Terracotta soldier signed by students to the school to show their appreciation for the school over the years. Other celebrations like a cocktail party, dinner and dance at UCCA 798 Art Zone, and the Dulwich Tradition of going to Tiananmen Square to watch the flag raising also took place.

    Last Saturday June 4, 2011 rock bands consisting of international school students from Beijing came together to play at Vics for the annual concert, the proceeds from tickets are to be donated to the Red Cross in support of relief for the Japan Earthquake. The lineup included Alt. Senior (a guest band), and Bad Apples, Red Lights, Agent Orange, We Just Got Here, Déjà vu, and Hot Noise (student bands). Band genre’s included punk rock, alternative rock, and blues-rock.

Harrow in March: On April 3, Harrow students joined over 150 people for a Heyrobics session before running the 10km Harrowthon. Spectators enjoyed a barbeque and a bouncy castle. Charity at BWYA: On April 1, BWYA student band Hot Noise organized a lunchtime concert to raise over RMB 2,500 in support of relief efforts in Japan.     2011-05 BCIS Spring Fair

    Saturday, May 14, The Sixth Annual Spring in the City event was held at BCIS. In keeping with this year's theme "One Thousand and One Nights" this majestic event included traditional Arabian dances and a magic show featuring the character Aladdin and his friends other than our very own BCIS Idol and school band live performances. This fantastical extravaganza had over 30 fun games for children of all ages and lots of great prizes to be won in the Raffle Draw. Wonderful international food, drinks and snacks was also be available. All funds raised went to The Library Project, an Asia-based initiative subsidizing the creation of libraries for under-funded schools and orphanages in the developing world.     Super Science Saturday at HoK: Last month, House of Knowledge launched their first Super Science Saturday. Kids and parents learned about the science and ewey gooey fun of slime. Fun with The Familier: The Familier welcomed in the Year of the Rabbit with a four-day celebration of dumpling making, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese New Year trivia, family pictures and even a hongbao treasure hunt! Prizes for the trivia quiz were donated by Lollipop Bakery. Reading Day at IAB: On March 11, IAB elementary students celebrated Reading Day with dramatized story reading and by dressing up as their favorite characters.     Afterschool Programs at WAB: On March 3, the Grade 1-3 students in WAB's afterschool drama, dance, and singing programs collaborated for one spectacular performance titled "Heroes." Creativity at ISB: On February 20 and 21, ISB held a high school one-act festival with 11 performances, eight of them originals. Book Week at Harrow: Harrow celebrated two book weeks in March with various events, including a visit from writer Omar Musa, as well as an Alice in Wonderland event and a Mad Hatter day. Dulwich in Early 2011: From Jan 29-Feb 5, a group of Dulwich students traveled to the ski resort Verbier. The school rock band The Airways performed on March 2 as part of the Dulwich Rock Sessions. Two-hundred fifty people, including 100 students, from over 45 classrooms and 15 countries participated in the second bi-annual Flat Classroom Conference. CAI Fundraising Evening at Mughal's Restaurant: On March 10, friends and supporters of CAI enjoyed a delicious Indian meal at Mughal's Restaurant.     2010-11 Thanksgiving and Class Graduation at The Family Learning

    In November 2010, The Family Learning House Kindergarten showed generosity at their annual Thanksgiving charity dinner by raising RMB 120,000 in donations for Kiki’s Kindergarten, the first kindergarten for blind and sighted children in Tibet. Students painted nine large paintings (blindfolded) with the help of Karyn Robarts to be auctioned during the event. And the school held a graduation for its Class of 2010 students.

    BWYA Students Raise Awareness about AIDS: On December 1, World AIDS Day, over 80 BWYA students participated in A Day Without Art (DWA), making 4,000 AIDS ribbons and handing them out while walking around the Caochangdi Art District, dressed in black. Etonkids Photo Contest: Etonkids held an award ceremony for "A Child's Shining Moments" photo contest. Students also gave performances. Hilton Gives to Children in Need: In December, Hilton Beijing Capital Airport invited kids from Beijing Sun Village Special Children Aid Center to a cookie making session with Hilton Hotel greater China general managers. Hilton donated living necessities to the village where the center supports children whose parents are currently in prison.     In December 2010, The Ritz-Carlton Beijing, Financial Street recently began its festive activities with a colorful display of lights, a cloud of confetti, nostalgia from Christmas carolers and even the traditional sounds of French horns. Over four hundred distinguished guests and friends of The Ritz-Carlton, Financial Street witnessed the lighting of the 9m tall Christmas tree magnificently adorned with over 2,500 twinkling fairy lights. The celebration continued through the evening with guests enjoying a decadent spread of festive food and desserts, homemade mulled wine and champagne.
     
    In the spirit of giving, the hotel was also excited to have raised over RMB 25,000 for the underprivileged children in Beijing through a spontaneous donation drive and a silent charity auction held that evening.

    At the beginning of December, the Dulwich community was treated to an unforgettable performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by the cast of Key Stage 4 and 5 students. At the end of November, a group of 35 students travelled to Cambodia to participate in a house-building project. Children were able to skate with Santa, get a Christmas present and photo taken with Santa, as well as enjoy some hot and cold drinks and treats while taking a break from skating. Dulwich Senior School Fancy Dress Cross Country: On October 27, Dulwich Senior School held their annual fancy dress cross-country. Dulwich Spider and Pumpkin Day: On October 29, Dulwich Early Years held a Spider and Pumpkin Day with activities and a special performance of The Pumpkin at the Little Riviera campus. Halloween at Beanstalk: BISB held a Halloween party photo at its primary, kindergarten and middle school campus. Halloween at Beijing Color Studio:On October 31, Beijing Color Studio celebrated their first Halloween by hosting a kids’ painting party at their studio location. Many kids showed up in great costumes and painted up a storm, enjoyed treats and having their faces painted by Sam.     The Westin Beijing Chaoyang held the hotel’s second Christmas Tree-Lighting Ceremony with the participation of clients, media and associates. The whole lobby has been transformed into an extravagant purple carnival, with purple lighting, themed decorations and all associates dressed up in purple uniform. Various purple and silver elements were added to finally make the night a wonderful experience for every coming guest. The hotel General Manager - Mr. Daniel R. Aylmer gave a welcome speech and together pressed the “giant button” with Mr. Lars Backström, the Ambassador of Finland to glitter up the 6-meter tall Christmas tree dressed in purple and silver ornaments.     CISB Goes to Hebei Province: On September 25-26, students from the Canadian International School of Beijing and the International School of Tianjin participated in a weekend trip to Hebei Province under the coordination of Free The Children and Me to We. Dictionary Day at IAB: Dictionary Day, a day to expand vocabulary, was held at IAB’s Elementary Campus. IAB Travels Around China: From September 13-17, IAB’s secondary students traveled around China to Inner Mongolia, Xi’an, Qingdao, Suzhou, Hangzhou and even as far as Guilin. A Memorable Moon Festival at ISB: On September 21, The International School of Beijing celebrated its 30th anniversary and the Chinese holiday at its Mid-Autumn festival at the ISB campus. They were joined by guests from a school in Yushu, a region recently affected by a severe earthquake.     On 20 - 21 November, Beijing Rotary Club held the 2010 Rotary Club Bazaar. Bazaar activities included over 60 Christmas shopping stalls, live music and performances, raffle draw, Christmas tree lighting, wine tasting, and children corner and entertainment. beijingkids together with A Food Affaire hosted the gingerbread men decorating activity. Kids enjoyed decorating the gingerbread men with candy, jelly beans, chocolate sprinkle, etc. All proceeds from gingerbread men decorating were donated to charities chosen by Beijing Rotary Club.

    3e Families at Around the Word Day: On September 18, 3e invited their international community of parents and children from over 20 nations to share the very best from their countries. WAB Wild Water Expedition: From September 28-30, WAB Grade 8 students went on a “WAB Wild” Water Expedition. They studied the environmental impacts of dams, practiced navigation skills, paddled canoes and kayaks, and worked through first aid and rescue scenarios. MSB Celebrates the Moon Festival: On September 21, MSB held a Moon Festival assembly, where students performed song, dances and other various acts. A Busy Month at Beijing BISS International School: Grade 10 drama students presented their interpretation of The Monkey King at the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA). Grade 12 students visited labs at the National Institutes of Biological Sciences to learn about stem cells, genetic disorders and protemics. Expeditions for Harrow Students: During the last week of September, Years 1 to 13 students from Harrow International School Beijing enjoyed going on expeditions across Asia. A Busy September for Dulwich: From September 12-15, Dulwich Year 12 students completed their first CAS project at the New Hope Foster Home, Da Xing Orphanage, Xin Xin migrant school and Care for Children. An Early Years bake sale raised RMB 3,103 for the Pakistan Flood Relief Fund. From September 12-17, all senior students traveled around China. On September 27, Year 4 students traveled to the Silver Mountain Pagoda Forest.     The WAB boys and girls teams win the All-Asian Volleyball Championship in Japan. Ian Stewart is a parent of two teens and an active member of the WAB Board, and also one of the coaches of the WAB Volleyball program led by WAB Assistant Athletics Director Caleb Liu. Stewart helps coach the Varsity Girls team coaches, as well as the middle school and elementary school teams.

    Terry Fox Run at BCIS: On October 13, BCIS had its 6th Terry Fox Run at its campus. YCIS Beijing and the Terry Fox Initiative: This fall, YCIS Beijing participated in the Terry Fox Hope Run at Chaoyang Park before holding their own events, such as Early Childhood Terry Fox Trike-a-Thon and a YCIS Parent Organization bake sale at their campus. The school raised over RMB 20,000 for the annual Terry Fox Initiative. Beanstalk Visits the Great Wall: On September 29-30, Beanstalk Middle and High School students took an overnight camping trip to the the Jinshanling section of the Great Wall.     Back to School at BISS: Returning students were excited to share stories from their summer holidays and make new friends. Dr. Cirecie West-Olatunji Visits BISS: On September 8, Dr. Cirecie West-Olatunji, Associate Professor at the University of Florida led a talk and workshop to parents, entitled "Parenting Teens in the 21st century.” Art at BWYA: BWYA art students experiment with texture and natural paint applicators. BWYA Student Council: Student Council candidates at the Beijing World Youth Academy delivered speeches to student voters. Organic Food at Daystar: Thanks to Daystar Academy’s recently launched organic food program, students from Kindergarten to Grade 3 enjoyed fresh organic food for lunch. IFC Raises RMB 70,000 for a Good Cause: On September 11, the IFC's Children's Choir delighted audiences at the Capital M restaurant with a rendition of "Food Glorious Food" from the musical Oliver. The adult choir performed later in the evening along with a jazz group. The dinner raised over RMB 70,000 which will directly benefit the IFC's musical outreach program that works with disadvantaged communities around Beijing.

    Graduation at Harrow Lower School: On June 15, the Prep Phase of Harrow Lower School (ages 9-12) put on a brilliant performance of Beauty and the Beast. The cast was supported by leads Alice Cleeve and M'tume Budzinski. Beanstalk Summer Camp: Beanstalk Summer Camp combined English language learning with fun activities and outings. It ended on July 23, but more fun is to be had next summer. Family Fun With Music Together: On August 7, Music Together finished its summer session at its Chaoyang Park location. Both parents and children had fun singing, dancing and playing instruments.

    Beijing Color Studio Summer Camp: Beijing Color Studio held their first full summer artsy camps for kids, from ages 5 to 10 years old, from June to August. The theme-based camps were very popular with the kids as they explored self expression through various 2-D media. Fusion Drama: On July 10, students (aged 4 to 16) from the inaugural Fusion Drama Course put on a spectacular final performance of songs and skits from shows, such as Glee, Mamma Mia and Fame after only a week of training under London music stars Dylan Turner and Emma Clifford. New Student Orientation at WAB: The Western Academy of Beijing welcomed 350 new students and their families to the school prior to the start of the school year. Sports Beijing Summer Camps: Sports Beijing held summer camps at ISB this summer for basketball, gymnastics, soccer and tennis. Some campers went on field trips to The Hutong for cooking class and to The Ice Zone for ice skating.

ClubFootball Junior Cup: In May, ClubFootball Junior Cup was held at ISB where soccer stars indulged in healthy competition. The next tournament is in October. 3e Parent Orientation: On August 10, parents and children were excited to be at 3e International for orientation and the start of the new school year! Pre-school Graduation at Telford: On July 8, students aged 3 to 6 performed at Telford’s 5th Annual Graduation Ceremony, held at Jing Sung Theater.

    Kids from various backgrounds and age groups competed in beijing-kids' Kids Summer Games at the AmCham-China's Independence Day BBQ event.

    Children participated in nine games including Extreme Basketball, Beanbag Toss, Hacky-sack Kick, Get Dressed and Spoon a Walnut. Upon completing the games, each participant walked away with a beijing-kids goodie bag stuffed with a beijing-kids fan and balloon, some toys: bubbles, a whirligig and an "insect toy" and a spoon/fork/chopsticks kit from United Family Hospitals & Clinics.

    2009-04-25 Spring beijingkids Little Pirates Treasure Hunt

    beijingkids welcomed over one hundred Little Pirates and their families to SOLANA Lifestyle Shopping Mall on Saturday, April 25th for a day of fun and adventure. After enjoying a delicious lunch at Latin Grillhouse, all the Little Pirates went on an entertaining Treasure Hunt throughout SOLANA, collecting treasure and playing a variety of pirate-themed games along the way, including the crowd-pleasing Capri-Sun drinks tasting challenge. The TREASURE included all sorts of surprises, toys, and stuffed animals courtesy of beijingkids, SOLANA Lifestyle Shopping Mall, Baby Art, Frastrackids, Popdino, Mothercare and Teletubbies stores. All in all, it was wonderful day out in Beijing for Little Pirates and parents alike.

    2009-03-21 Beijingkids Talk To The Animals Party

    Over 100 kids and parents joined beijingkids in celebrating our 2nd birthday at Annie’s Italian Restaurant. Followed by a fantastic tour featuring professional English-speaking zoologists and veterinarians at the Beijing zoo and Beijing Aquarium, all parents and kids were very content during this wonderful event!
    A big thank you goes out to Annie’s, International Center for Veterinary Services, City Bus Tour, Crocs, Capri-Sun, and Dr. Tony Deck for their contributions to our birthday party!

    From Nov 24-29 Dulwich held a book fair at all campuses. On Nov 25 and 26, Narelle Oliver spent a day with Year 2 and Year 4 classes explaining how she came to write and illustrate books such as Thingamajig and Twilight Hunt. On Nov 29, Dulwich hosted the first Young Musician of the Future Competition. Students also performed in winter shows during December.

    2008-12-05 BJU Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Toy Drive

    On Dec 5, United Foundation for Chinese Orphans (UFCO) and Beijing United Family Hospital (BJU) hosted a Christmas tree lighting. Children from Beanstalk International Bilingual School (BIBS) kicked off the holiday season by singing Christmas carols and also joined the toy drive to benefit an orphan or migrant worker’s child.

    December 13th, 2008: In a pre-Christmas visit, Santa joined Beijingkids for a day of family fun. All kids received special gifts from Santa. Families enjoyed a complimentary hot chocolate and a lunch at 1001 Nights Restaurant after a swirl on the rink at All Star Skating Club.

    2008-11-08 Pride in Beijing Fun Run 2008

    November 8, 2008 The 2nd annual Pride in Beijing Fun Run was held on Nov 8th at Dragon Bay Villa in Shunyi near the International School of Beijing. This year’s Fun Run attracted four times more people than the year before. 300 runners took part in different races, and over 400 people were gathered at the height of the event! Events included 10k/5K run, 2km run-walk and a 500M kids bicycle race. Post race festivities included student rockbands, kids games, food, as well as etiquette reminder cards. All money raised will go towards the Pride Project, an initiative from the non-profit organization, the Pride Institute. Their aim is to encourage courtesy and promote positive peer pressure in day-to-day life.

    2008-10-24 Fall beijingkids Little Pirates Treasure Hunt

    October 24, 2008: Little Pirates got together in Ritan Park on Saturday 24th of October and joined in the festive Beijingkids Fall Treasure Hunt. After having lunch at Schindler's Tankstelle restaurant, all the Little Pirates went in search of the treasure by accomplishing fun filled, challenging games. Desperately searching for the Pirate Captain, to reveal to them the location of the elusive Pirates' treasure. Not only did the Little pirates get the Pirate's Treasure, they also walked away with a Beijingkids goodie bag stuffed with Beijingkids balloons, Capri Sun drinks and a stuffed animal from Big Dog.

    2007-09-16 1st annual Pride In Beijing Family Day Fun Run

    September 16th, 2007: The 1st annual Pride In Beijing Family Day Fun Run was sucessfully held at Shunyi's Grasse Town last sunday. Supported by Grasse Town the International School of Beijing and beijing-kids, the event drew over 200 people for family activities and the fun run.

    A performance by a kids rock band CRASH formed by three ISB students age 10-11, was a highlight. The 1st three place winners for the men's and women's 5K Run received trophies, as well as the 1st three places runners for 2K run/walk. Baby Victor Dean has received Youngest Kid Participation Award.He completed a 2.5K run/walk with his mother Echo while cheering for his mother from a stroller.

    The money raised will support the Pride Project - an initiative from the Pride Institute. The Pride Institute is a non profit organization whose goal is to encourage courtesy, etiquette and positive peer pressure in daily life. Pride aims at helping fellow Chinese citizens to establish globally respectable behavior and prepare Beijing and China for the 2008 Olympics.     2007-06-30 USA Day Kids Olympics

    June 30, 2007: Over 70 kids from various backgrounds and age groups competed in beijing-kids' Kid Olympics at the AmCham-China’s Independence Day BBQ event on Saturday. Kids Jessica Wang, Mao Yi Wen, and Shirley Lei claimed the gold, silver and bronze grand prizes in the ages 8 & under category, while Marco Motta, Victoria Chen and Julia L. claimed respective medals in the ages 9 & over category. Children participated in ten games including Slam Dunk Basketball, Dizzy Dribble, Hacky-sack Kick, Bottle Shoot and Paper Airplane Throw . Upon completing the games, each participant walked away with a beijing-kids goodie bag stuffed with a beijing-kids visor, tickets to Happy Valley Amusement Park, a first-aid kit from United Family Hospitals & Clinics and a magnet from Dulwich College Beijing, 66 toy prizes in all were distributed courtesy of Dulwich College Beijing.     2006-07-02 The Kid Olympics at AmCham's 4th of July Celebration

    July 2, 2006: Over 70 kids competed in beijing-kids' Kid Olympics at the AmCham 4th of July Sunday, with kids Conner Lock, Angie and Heyan winning the overall competition with their combined scores in 10 events. Children from across Beijing and the world competed in games that included the Paper Airplane Toss, the Hula Hoop Spin, the Hackey-Sack Kick and the Ping Pong Bounce. Each child walked away with a goodie bag that included a teddy bear courtesy of New Century International Children's Hospital and a bag of cookies from Le Palais Desserts & Lounge. Top scorers won vouchers for a free Sunday brunch for the whole family at Le Palais as well as huge Garfield and Bubu Dog stuffed animals. Photos by Rob Patterson

The kids enjoyed a lunchtime feast of hamburgers and hot dogs from Schindler's before grabbing a map of the park and setting out to find 6 hidden pirates who each gave them clues to the final hiding place of the treasure.     January 20, 2008: Young Snow Jammers were snow-bound for Nanshan Ski Resort on Sunday, January 20. People donned brightly colored, waterproof jumpsuits and beijing-kids ski hats & scarves for the first beijing-kids' Snow Jam Ski Day. Event staples like transportation, breakfast, lunch, skis & snowboards, clothes as well as a fabulous goodie bag packed with all the essentials to keep warm. Some managed to take in a bit of snowboarding and skiing on the slopes while taking in the excitement of such an occasion. Whole families had a successful snowbound adventure.

    December 1, 2007: Hilton Beijing lit its legendary Christmas tree. Attendees got merry with warm Gluehwein, creamy eggnog, a four-meter long Hilton specialty Bouche de Noel log cake and a gigantic gingerbread house standing over 1.8-meters high, all paired with live entertainment, caroling, and maybe even a visit from Santa.

    October 14th, 2007: beijing-kids invited 100 kids of its readers for a family fun day at A-Z Kids center. Kids enjoyed a kongfu show, a face changing performance, a magic show in addition to all the entertainment at A-Z Kids. They also got themselves in Halloween mood by doing their own crafts. Capri-Sun strongly supported the event by giving kids a lot of prizes and their popular juice.
