Can you introduce yourselves briefly and tell us what Creativa is?
We are Carlos and Carla, co-founders of Creativa. Our company is a Beijing-based STEAM education company. We help kids aged 5-16 love creativity and scientific thinking through fun, hands-on coding and robotics programs that blend engineering methods with child-led, project-based learning.
Our philosophy: Every child is born a creator.
At Creativa, we believe every child has the potential to be a creator, not just a consumer of technology. We bring our engineering backgrounds and an engineering-based learning methodology to our mission: helping kids fall in love with STEM and discover the power of creating with their own hands.
We also have a special goal in our mission: to inspire and guide more girls to join the technical area.
The name “Creativa” is very special to us. When Carla was little, her father always said, “Curiosity is the mother of creativity.” This sentence became our guide – even when we lived outside China and started building the idea that is now our company. “Creativa” is a Spanish word, but we always knew it showed exactly what we wanted to share. So, even when we made a Chinese version of the name, we never stopped calling it Creativa.
We love technology because we have more than 15 years of experience – Carlos in space technology, and Carla [as a]software development major in quality assurance (QA) with education expertise. From the beginning, we shared the same dream: to teach knowledge, spark curiosity and help more people discover their creative power.
Today, in China, we made that dream real and started our own company.
What is a typical day or week like at work?
Work, work and more work … but with a lot of excitement! 😄
For example, we have spent more than five months preparing a very special idea: how to bring our Christmas to China. In many Chinese cities, Christmas is celebrated in a simple way. Sometimes people give an apple because it means “peace.” But for us, Christmas is much more. It is the most beautiful time of the year, full of joy, creativity and family time.
That is why we are creating a series of workshops called “A Merry STEM Christmas.” We mix the Christmas spirit with science, technology and art. This project shows perfectly who we are. Creativa means emotion, learning and magical technology.
What are your main responsibilities at Creativa?
Like every young company, we do many jobs at the same time. We take care of logistics, create educational programs, teach classes, direct creative ideas and handle communication and advertising.
Starting a business means learning to do everything: plan a workshop, connect with schools, prepare materials, make campaigns and, of course, share every success with our students and partners.
What is the most rewarding part of your job? And the biggest challenges?
The best part is sharing our knowledge and watching children learn while having fun. Behind every class, there are years of experience and our own teaching method based on real engineering: children design, build, test and improve their ideas – just like real engineers.
The biggest challenge is to balance creativity with the structure needed so every program works and reaches more children. But when we see their eyes shine because they light up a circuit or program their first robot, everything is worth it.
How did you get here?
Starting a business has always been a big motivation in our lives.
Along the way, we faced many challenges, including the normal difficulties of being foreigners in China. However, thanks to the fairness and support from the local community, every problem became a chance to grow stronger.
Besides workshops and technology seminars, Creativa also makes its own educational hardware called EduVEN. The first version was born in 2010, and now we are on Version 3. We use this board in our workshops. Our next big step is to add artificial intelligence (AI) to it so students and creators from different countries can connect. We want to export a unique educational experience from China.

If you could give one piece of advice to your teenage selves about work and life, what would it be?
Always look for the good, share what you know and leave a positive mark.
Starting a business is not only about creating a company; it is about having a purpose. For us, that purpose is to inspire others and help them discover their creative talent.
We also learned that having a friend or partner who encourages you to keep going is very important. That is why we want to thank everyone who has supported and motivated us.
Because Creativa is not just our project. It is our way to give something good to the world.
