It’s no secret around here that we love Beijing teachers and want to do everything possible at Jingkids to support them. That’s why we started our groups for international education and international education jobs, described below, as well as all our coverage of what’s happening in Beijing’s schools. There are more specialty groups out there as well, all geared towards helping those who shepherd our children down their learning paths.

Teaching in China

A relatively new group, these educators across the country share resources, help answer questions, and generally are there to assist in any way their colleagues need! Scan QR code to request entry.

Teaching Resource Group

This community is especially helpful for educators lacking access to the books and materials they used in their home country. Group members share presentations, resources, and help guide other teachers towards the best curriculum for each classroom’s needs.

Add WeChat ID: Teacher_Maria1209

STEAM Education Alliance

Similar to the Teaching Resource Group except this one focuses on learning through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). Members share videos and workshops, field questions about software or programs to aid their students, and generally, help one another out!

Add WeChat ID: haeryong-jo

BJ Parent & Educator Workshops

A place where parents and educators can post personal and professional development workshops relevant to Beijing. Admins focus on RIE and Positive Discipline, but any education-related event is welcome.

Jobs For International Educators

Run by Jingkids, all Beijing educators are welcome to share job opportunities at international schools. A great place to network and cut through the chatter to just see jobs.

Add WeChat ID: mwinchina and request entry.

International Educators In China

Here’s the discussion group you’ve been waiting for, with many of the top minds in Beijing’s international education scene. Enjoy talking about the news that affects all of Beijing’s educational scene, and connect with colleagues.

Add WeChat ID: mwinchina and request entry.

Want to chat with friends? Join in groups? Share moments? Time to create your WeChat account.

No matter how you feel about social media, as long as you’re living in Beijing, you’re going to be using WeChat. Whether you’re paying for goods, booking tickets at the park, setting up a playdate, or reading the latest hot goss, it’s happening on WeChat. So whether you’re new to China, or somehow managed to get by for any length of time here without an account (um.. please share your secret in the comments, how did you do it?!), we present a helpful step-by-step guide to setting up a profile.

Note: This guide is based on the Chinese system, however, you can always switch your phone’s language and follow the English instructions.

For those who are using WeChat for the first time, select “Register” on the login page.

First and foremost, all WeChat accounts must be registered using a cell phone number, so go ahead and pop that in. Then add your username, phone number, password, and select the country or region in which your phone number is based.

Don’t worry, it’s not all data entry, because this is also where you get to include that beautiful profile pic.

Next, do what people in the 21st century do best and blindly click on the box that says, “I’ve read and agree to the WeChat Software License and Service Protocol” without reading a single word of it. Then click “Register.”

Next, to prove you’re not a malicious robot, you get to fit the last piece into a puzzle.

Again, blindly agree to something you haven’t read, i.e. “I’ve read and agree to the WeChat Privacy Protection Guidelines.”

Next, you’ll be asked to send a super-secret code (in this case, zc96) to a not-so-secret number, and then it’s off to the races!

And by races, we mean you get to enjoy the wonderful world of WeChat because your registration is complete! Pro tip: If you want to change the platform’s language, click Me – Settings – General – Language.
