Yesterday’s beijingkids and JingKids’ Baobei Disco saw over 150 participants at The Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel for a family dance party. Following a successful first event in February, our Mother’s Day edition had the little ones on their feet and grooving to music by our very own DJ Cousin Kippy. Special thanks to all our sponsors for making the event possible: Family photos by Neverland, a magic show by Young Eagle, Hip-pop dancing by M-cro, interactive dancing by CISCA, and kids’ games by Young Outliers. 3e International School students dressed up as some of their favorite storybook characters, superheroes, and animals for a day of celebrating Halloween festivities. In the morning, children participated in special activities and music in their classrooms. They learned about Halloween traditions from their foreign teachers and shared costumes with friends in both Chinese and English.

Nursery children also had their own celebration in the morning with parents attending and participating in classroom activities. In spite of a grey and misty Beijing afternoon, students still walked in 3e’s annual Halloween parade as parents snapped photos of kids dressed up as dinosaurs, Elsas, and Spidermen.

3e’s parent council gave each child a goody bag and candy for trick-or-treating and some parents even joined in the day’s festivities by dressing up in costume. Parents felt the day was an opportunity for kids to express their imagination and explore Halloween and autumn-themed activities.

This Saturday, ring in the holidays while helping out children in need. The Beijing International Committee for Chinese Orphans (BICCO) is hosting “Unlock the Future,” a Christmas charity dinner and silent auction at Kagen. There will be live music and a variety of creative Christmas gifts at the silent auction, including spa treatments, yoga classes, custom jewelry, restaurant vouchers, and more.

 
Don’t know BICCO? It’s a volunteer group that focuses on improving the lives of disabled orphans and children in China. It was registered in Hong Kong as a non-profit organization in 2003, but began visiting orphanages as early as 1998. The group runs several programs: medical, educational, foster homes, and more.
 
All proceeds from BICCO’s Christmas charity dinner and silent auction will benefit the organization’s Shunyi Orphanage Rehabilitation Program, which brings together foreign physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and caregivers looking after disabled kids. This program allows therapists to provide a treatment program for the children, as well as giving much-needed training to caregivers.
 
The ticket price for BICCO’s Christmas charity dinner and silent auction includes a set menu of Kagen’s signature Japanese dishes and two cocktails. With only 200 seats available, what are you waiting for? Show your support for disabled kids and orphans by giving them the chance to receive long-term care and education.
