To celebrate the person who keeps your work in order and refreshes your coffee cup, the Kerry Hotel is offering an opportunity to appreciate your secretary’s hard work. The seven-day Secretary’s Week promotion (Apr 21-27), which ends this Sunday, allows you to treat your helper with a complimentary lavish lunch buffet.

We wish we could have shared this with you earlier, but better late than never, right? The RMB 238 international buffet is highlighted with a variety of sashimi, Australian steak at the barbeque stand, and an Asian food section that offers dim sums and DIY noodles.

Assistants/personal secretaries/personal helpers are all qualified for the privilege. Just remember to present both of your business cards and that only one meal per bill will be complimentary. For more information, please contact Kerry’s Kitchen (8565 2088).

If you miss the Secretary’s Week promotion at Kerry Hotel, consider the recently launched pentapizza at Pentahotel Beijing. On Mondays, no matter which toppings (RMB 80-118/9 inches) the guest chooses, the pentalounge will double the fun with their buy one get one free promotion.

Cheese lovers will definitely like Formaggi (RMB 88), featuring a combination of three cheeses: mozzarella, Parmesan and taleggio. Carnivores can go ahead with Gutosa, which is topped with pork sausage and broccoli. Fresh and hot out of the oven, though the handmade pizza is severely misshapen, it still tastes like heaven.

Check out our column Deal Hunting for more food deals.

As a food explorer, I spend most of my time everyday looking for food deals around town from various sources. This also happens to play into my role as dining editor.
Over the past year, Indigo mall has become an increasingly popular family hang out, especially for food. Restaurant options are ample and decent in the mall, but who doesn’t love more choices? A little dwarfed by Indigo, restaurants in the nearby East hotel (also part of Swire Properties) as well offer generous promotions for casual dining out.

As a Wangjing dweller, I am a frequent diner at both locations. After tipping off friends here and there, I decided to put this listing together. If I’ve missed any of your favorites, help me out and leave a comment.

On Mondays, if the Sanlitun location is too crowded, the popular two-for-one Blue Frog burger deal is also available at Indigo. If you are not in the mood for burgers, walk to the neighboring East hotel’s bar and restaurant Xian for buy one get one free selected drinks and pizzas (daily, 5-8pm).

On Tuesdays, head to Flamme on the third floor of Indigo for its two-for-one steak. If you can fit in desert, pick up some cupcakes or pies (RMB 6-20) at half price (after 7pm, daily) from T Republic on the first floor.

In the middle of the week, treat yourself a nicer after-work dinner on Wednesday at East hotel’s Feast restaurant on the second floor. A two-course menu (daily, RMB 168, 5.30-10.30pm) comes with a glass of wine or soft drink. Before you go home, drop by Domain on the same floor to get some two-for-one cakes (daily, 6pm until sold out).

Moms, please take note: Don’t assume that you are too grown-up for ladies’ night until you check out East hotel’s classy bar and restaurant Xian. Hang out with your girl friends and enjoy free selected martinis and other cocktails (Thursdays, 9-12pm), accompanied by live jazz music. Not a fan of staying up late? Try the two-for-one burgers (Thursdays, 10.30am-2pm) at Domain on a lunch date.

And what better way to start your weekend than with a glass of champers? Xian offers buy one get one free on Moet Chandon Champagne bottles (RMB 750) and glasses (RMB 120) every Friday night.

On weekends, kids eat from the children’s menus for free at Blue Frog Indigo, for every two brunches/main courses purchased by parents. Japanese food lovers should head to East hotel’s Hagaki for the buy-two-get-one sashimi that’s only available on Saturdays and Sundays.

As a food explorer, I spend most of my time everyday looking for food deals around town from various sources. This also happens to play into my role as dining editor. Banish the thought. The new 7-course sea cucumber /abalone set menu at Cantonese restaurant Wulixiang is elegant, healthy and scrumptious, but costs you less than the price of a steak.

I have personally tried and recommended the set menu to my colleagues, and they were quite impressed by the food. But how was the service and sanitation? You ask. The restaurant is located at the Traders Upper East Hotel (by Shangri-la), so you can expect starred service.

The 7-course Sea Cucumber Set Menu (RMB 188) include sea cucumber with saffron sauce, a dim sum platter, wok-fried prawns with walnut, fried beef cube with garlic, cabbage in fish broth, dandan noodles and a fruit platter. I happened to have taken photos of every dish, so there’s no need to say more.

Not a fan to sea cucumber? The7-course Monk Jumps Over the Wall Set Menu (RMB 158) only differs in its main course. Monk Jumps over the Wall (fotiaoqiang佛跳墙) is a classic example of luxury Cantonese soups. The rich and nutritious soup is made from well-selected abalone, fish maw and dried scallop, and is cooked for several hours.

Set menus served daily 11.30am-2pm and 5.30-9.30pm. One day advance reservation is required. 2 Dongsihuan Beilu (southeast of Xiaoyun Qiao), Chaoyang District (5907 8406, wulixiang.thue@tradershotels.com) 朝阳区东四环北路2号, 北京上东盛贸饭店
