If you’re looking for a family-friendly spot in Beijing that mixes excitement, safety, and real fun, then take a trip west to Haidian. Minas Adventure Land (米那斯冒险乐园) is tucked inside the busy Huaxi LIVE · Wukesong Ice and Snow Entertainment Center. It’s a bit of a drive for Chaoyang families, but the place has everything from restaurants to museums to indoor adventure zones, so it’s easily an all-day family activity.

The park is packed with fun, thrilling play zones for kids of every age. There are tall, twisty slides and safe climbing structures that let kids burn off all their energy while building confidence. For the little ones, there are soft, gentle play areas, and for older kids who love bigger challenges, there are more active, exciting spaces. Safety is a top priority here, with dedicated shoe-changing areas, clean on-site restrooms, and well-kept equipment, so parents can relax and enjoy watching their kids play without stress.

You can buy single-item tickets, which cost RMB 93 on weekends and holidays, great for quick visits. If you plan on coming more often, there are value packs like the 4-ticket bundle for RMB 323, which saves you over 50%. They even sell non-slip socks for RMB 9.9 to keep kids safe while they play. Tickets can be purchased on site on Dianping.

What makes this place awesome is that it actually feels like stepping into a real-life video game. The whole park is designed with fantasy and adventure themes. Kids love the immersive vibe, and parents love that it’s fun, visually interesting, and age-appropriate.

Whether they’re racing down slides, climbing walls, or exploring little hidden corners, there’s always something new and exciting to do. It’s the kind of place where a quick 30-minute stop easily turns into a full afternoon of laughing and playing.

And let’s not forget the parent-friendly perks. For the parents who want to sit back and relax a bit, there are comfortable seating areas where you can sit and watch your kids play, clean restrooms, convenient shoe-changing zones, and flexible booking that works with last-minute changes. It’s a win-win: kids get to have a blast, and parents get a chance to relax.

Raise your hand if you’ve ever seen John Cena host Wipeout and laughed your butt off when a contestant fell into the water. I have! And I’ve also wanted to try my hand at giant obstacle courses. Seriously, how difficult can they be? Well, here’s your chance to spend a day with your family and battle each other for the title of family champion!

疯狂的麦咭北京店 (Fēngkuáng de mài jī běijīng diàn), or Crazy Magee, in Daxing District is a hidden gem worth the journey, even if it’s a bit of a drive past the Fifth Ring Road. While it may require a bit of a drive, the experience here is packed with excitement, teamwork and memories that make every mile worthwhile.

Why It’s Worth the Trip

It’s not like the kids’ indoor playgrounds that you can find all over the city. This place is an adventure hub designed for intergenerational fun. With a 4.2-star rating on Dianping and over 470 positive reviews, it’s clear that families keep coming back (over 300 repeat visitors can’t be wrong!).

They’ve got the super popular light up grid adventure game where you run around the room to step on certain light up squares and a room that’s filled with lazers like you’re in a secret spy movie.

There’s the giant foam wall that you need to run past as it randomly pushes out squares, attempting to push you into the foam pit. What an awesome way to test out your agility as you take on your kids.

They’ve also got a giant balancing floor where you need to work together as a team to avoid falling off the ever-tilting floor, and plenty more fun activities.

It’s all about AI nowadays, and there’s a new indoor park that’s embracing AI full on. The newly opened SoReal VR 超体空间 is a dazzling attraction that redefines what immersive experiences can be. Developed by the creative team of Zhang Yimou (the acclaimed director behind the Beijing 2008 Olympics opening ceremony), SoReal combines cinematic storytelling with interactive gameplay, transporting visitors into fantastical worlds.

Walking through SoReal’s doors feels like stepping onto a movie set where you’re the star. The venue blends VR, AR, AI and motion-sensing tech to create experiences so vivid you’re meant to forget where the real world ends and the digital one begins.

Inside, you’ll find attractions that are based on Chinese folklore, like the Legend of the Dragon, where mythical creatures and breathtaking landscapes feel startlingly real, as well as rides that defy gravity at Zero Gravity, where you can experience what it would be like to be in space.

There are also multiplayer VR arenas that deliver heart-pounding action. Teams face off in futuristic battle scenarios where every duck, dash and shot is tracked with pinpoint accuracy.

SoReal offers more contemplative encounters with its AI-driven holographic displays. These lifelike digital characters hold surprisingly natural conversations, offering guided tours through fantastical environments or interactive storytelling sessions that adapt to your responses. One moment you’re in a Beijing shopping district, the next you’re swordfighting dragons or floating through the cosmos. It’s this magical quality that makes the experience so memorable – and it’s why visitors keep coming back to try every adventure on offer.

Prices:
Single experiences starting around RMB 150-300, while a full-day unlimited pass runs about RMB 500. For the ultimate experience, the RMB 800 VIP package grants priority access and exclusive perks inside.

Winter break is coming up, and for the kids who aren’t traveling out of Beijing or signing up for one of the many amazing winter camps, there are still some really cool indoor playgrounds that their parents can take them to for a day of fun.

BE1ST

Located on the fifth floor of Chaoyang Joy City, BE1ST is set up similarly to other popular indoor play places like Bom Bom Space, albeit on a smaller scale since Joy City is much closer to downtown Beijing. BE1ST offers the usual indoor playground with ball pit, slides, trampolines, cave exploration, rock wall, aerial obstacle course, plus more! One activity at BE1ST that stands out is the human Whack-a-Mole where kids scramble through “underground tunnels” and pop out of holes to steal (fake) corn from the farmer, who uses an inflatable bat to whack them. It’s rather therapeutic for parents to take on the role of the farmer.

Find it:
5/F, Chaoyang Joy City, 101 Chaoyang Beilu, Chaoyang District (at the intersection of Qingnian Lu)
朝阳区朝阳北路101朝阳大悦城5楼，青年路口东北角

FEAST at EAST Hotel

While this play space definitely isn’t big enough to spend the whole day at, it’s a parent favorite for dining. The playroom is big enough that you can enjoy a whole meal in peace while the kids entertain themselves. Best of all, the hotel is located right next to Indigo Mall, where your kids can continue to explore and have fun after your meal.

Find it:
2/F, EAST Beijing, 22 Jiuxianqiao Lu, Chaoyang District
朝阳区酒仙桥路22号东隅北京酒店2层

幼实稚趣儿童乐园

They’ve got all the essentials of an indoor playground like ball pits, slides, sandpits, dress-up, swings, and toys, but what makes them different is that they’ve also got themed classrooms with activities led by their staff and rooms to let children’s imaginations run wild.

Behind one of the doors, you’ll find a mud pit room. Kids are covered from head to toe in a yellow rubber suit and the staff at 幼实稚趣儿童乐园 take them on a fun session of jumping and splashing around in the mud.

In another, you’ll find a pink ballet studio where staff teach classes from kids’ yoga to dance. Other activity rooms include arts and crafts, cooking, science experiments, wood shop, and a starry night room where parents and kids can lie down to unwind.

Pro tip:
Buy your tickets either through Dianping or Douyin – it’ll be much cheaper. Tickets for 1 adult + 1 child is RMB 188 if you know how to purchase tickets on Douyin. If not, ask the staff at the entrance for help.

This one is perfect for older kids. Spend the entire day indoors in blissful AC while playing full-on interactive VR games, having inflatable races, and even getting in some good old-fashioned roller skating.

MeLand at Fangyuanli ID Mall

MeLand is the gold standard of indoor playgrounds in China. This three-story kids’ paradise is great for them to burn off all that excess energy. One of the most stand-out features of MeLand is their dedicated dress-up salon where make-up artists can transform your child into a princess, replete with Cinderella-esque gowns, tiaras, and the full works. This team of princess-makers also leads the children in a little song-and-dance routine on a stage in the main area every hour between 11am and 6pm.

Pro Tip: Bring sticky socks for yourself and the kids!

Possibly one of the cheapest indoor playgrounds at just RMB 79 for the whole day, Mo Du Honey is nothing fancy, but it does have all the essentials that young kids love. From ball pits and a slide to sand pits, bubble rooms, trampolines, and dress up, Mo Du Honey is a low-cost way to spend the day out of the sun.

This place is down-to-earth indoor playground fun. First of all, they offer 200sqm of age-appropriate activities for young kids. From ball pits to multiple climbing gyms, they’ve got everything a little kid could want.

My personal favorite parts about Elfin Kids Cafe is that they will allow you to order any kind of waimai food to be delivered, and they even have a nice little section with high chairs where you and the kids can eat. They also offer massage chairs for parents to relax in and basic gym equipment in case you want to squeeze in a workout as well.

This isn’t a hotel. It’s a hot spring that’s perfect for grownups as well as for kids! It offers indoor and outdoor hot springs for kids to splash in, a movie room with cartoons, and a big play area for them to play in. And the best part? While the kids play, you can book yourself a massage and relax.

BE1ST (pronounced “Be First”) is the latest indoor play place to set up shop in Beijing, having opened two branches in the capital city in the last six months – one in the west Xicheng district and the other in Chaoyang’s very own Joy City. Since the mall is just a stone’s throw away from my home, we decided to check it out during the recent CNY holiday.

(insert video here)

Located on the fifth floor of Chaoyang Joy City, BE1ST is set up similarly to other popular indoor play places like Bom Bom Space, albeit on a smaller scale since Joy City is much closer to downtown Beijing. It offers the usual indoor playground with ball pit, slides, trampolines, cave exploration, rock wall, aerial obstacle course, plus more! One activity at BE1ST that stands out is the human Whack-a-Mole where kids scramble through “underground tunnels” and pop out of holes to steal (fake) corn from the farmer, who uses an inflatable bat to whack them. It’s rather therapeutic for parents to take on the role of the farmer…

Blending in augmented reality (AR) games like those at VS Sports Park, BE1ST also offers HADO, an AR game where players don AR glasses and battle against each other in simple fist-punching and shield-wielding combat. The instructions are straightforward: Aim and punch with the hand that wears the motion detector band. You want to take out your opponent while dodging their shots. You can also charge your shield by pointing your fist down and raising your arm quickly overhead when the green bar is full. The shield can only take so many hits before it breaks, though! Each round of HADO’s AR combat lasts about five minutes, so players don’t have to wait long to play, and it’s definitely fun for parents to play versus the kids!

BE1ST seems to want to get everyone moving, even the adults. One of the stations sees stationary bicycles set up for a race with the actual cycling avatars on a race track so you can spot your progress! Another cool modern feature is the Smart Mirrors that allow parents to sneak in a little five- to 15-minute free workout of their choice by simply scanning the QR code on the mirror and choosing from yoga, HIIT, Chinese dance and more. It’s both a smart advertising move as well as a great time-killer for guardians who have to accompany the kids for the three-hour period each ticket allows.

BE1ST doesn’t have an attached restaurant on site, but it does have a juice bar that serves fresh juice as well as other refreshments. For RMB 20, you can get a refillable cup at their soda fountain that offers iced tea and soda. For more dining options, simply walk into the mall and you’ll find familiar names like Baker & Spice, Tubestation, Moji (not to be confused with Muji), Saigon Mama and more. There’s also an outlet of The Tree for those of you craving Chinese cuisine.

Right now, a nice perk of visiting BE1ST at Chaoyang Joy City before the end of the CNY holiday (Feb 25) is that you’ll get a shot at their red packet lucky draw when you purchase a package card (RMB 1,880 for ten parent-child visits). The red packets contain ticket and cash prizes – my kid walked away with RMB 50 in hand!

Happy Playing!

Beijing parents are always asking, “Where can I throw a birthday party for my kid?” Well, we’re here to tackle that big bouncy question as we explore different types of venues all over the city and give you an in-depth look at all your kids’ party options. Search #BigBeijingBirthdayPartyList for more recommendations from us.

I’ve wanted to take my little girl to Timmy’s World ever since I saw a picture of their gigantic entrance on Dianping. I knew I had a good feeling about this place… But, since it’s not in the center of the city, it took a bit of self-convincing before making the long drive towards Tongzhou.

But man, it was worth it!

Being a little out of the way from the center of the city and not part of a chain means that Timmy’s World charges less than half of what meLand charges for a day of all-inclusive fun.

The three-story indoor playground has everything a young child could want. Right as you enter, there’s the wooden pellet sandpit with dinosaurs and a little volcano in the middle. Then, in the room right across is a forest-themed two-story playground with tube slides, foam pits, swings, and obstacle courses.

Then, as you walk in a bit more, you’re met with a sushi restaurant with a rotating belt, a grocery store, an auto repair shop, ramps for the cars, a stage to sing and dance on, a ball pit with more slides and those ball suction tubes, a dress up room, an interactive video screen, another tube slide, a carousel, and a tiny kitchen.

Pro Tip: The staff does story time multiple times throughout the day.

And that’s just the first floor…

Venturing up to the second floor you’ll find a toy room that’s designed for very young kids. It’s filled with wooden toys and there’s even a small wall of light switches that they can entertain themselves with.

Then there’s the pièce de résistance of the place – their choo choo train. Unlimited rides are included in the ticket price but the train doesn’t run all day long. On the day that we went, kids rushed to queue up when the trains started running, but 30 minutes into it, there was no longer a line.

Up on the third floor is a trampoline and arcade room that has plenty of giant foam blocks for the kids to create and build with, as well as a small garden and barn with stuffed vegetable toys and chickens.

One of my favorite parts about Timmy’s World was their dining area. They sectioned out an entire large room just for dining. There are kid sinks conveniently located at the entrance, and even plates and cups for guests to use. They allow any sort of waimai food to be delivered, so if you’re not picky about having an exclusive party, you can set up your own lunch spread for the kid at a fraction of the price.

We arrived at Timmy’s World almost right when they opened at around 10am. By the time we left around 3pm, my daughter was still not done exploring the entire place. It’s like Disneyland for toddlers.

Pricing:
RMB 143 for 1 adult + 1 child full day ticket
RMB 168 for 2 adults + 1 child full day ticket
RMB 95 for 1 adult + 1 child 4 hours at night on weekends
RMB 86 for 1 adult + 1 child for 4 hours on weekdays
RMB 128 for single child full day pass

Pro Tip: Bring a pair of non-slip socks for the kids. Adults aren’t required to wear them, but kids are. If you don’t bring your own, you’ll need to purchase a pair at the entrance.

Their staff leads the kids in group activities that range from crafting, song and dance, to plain old silly fun in the mud pit.

This place is down-to-earth indoor playground fun. First of all, they offer 200sqm of age-appropriate activities for young kids. From ball pits to multiple climbing gyms, they’ve got everything a little kid could want.

My personal favorite parts about Elfin Kids Cafe is that they will allow you to order any kind of waimai food to be delivered, and they even have a nice little section with highchairs where you can eat. They also offer massage chairs for parents to relax, and basic gym equipment in case you want to squeeze in a workout as well.

Who said that birthday parties just had to be purely entertainment and fun? After all, all play and no work makes Jack, or Jill, just as dull as if the reverse were true. So if you’ve got a kid with a keen sense of discovery who enjoys mixing learning with fun, then a visit to Enlightment Space in the China Soong Ching Ling Science & Culture Center for Young People awaits. Yes the name is a mouthful, but the lengthy name reflects the many space and edutainment options available within!

Located in Haidian district close to Yuyuantan Park, the Center is a sprawling property seemingly dedicated to innovation and technology. When we visited, we passed by a Robot cafe on one of the floors on our way to Enlightment Space. As for the Space itself, it’s a huge kids’ wonderland with all sorts of fun, scientific games and activities from constructing boat passages in the water play area to encasing yourself in a bubble tube.

There’s a central party room inside the kiddy replica of the Forbidden City, which conveniently sits between two play areas that active kids will love. You can even climb to the top of the “Forbidden City” to hide away from the crowds and find a spot to spy on the party below. Food and drink packages are available through the party manager at the Space.

One unique selling point of Enlightment Space are the little nods to local culture, such as the Chinese dragon on the ceiling, as well as artefacts like the gong and drum, tucked around the place. Note that most of the digital games and information are in Chinese, with some English translation, but not always. Still, it’s nothing that kids can’t figure out by themselves through discovery and investigation!

So if you’re looking for a new indoor playground suitable for older kids from 6 to 10, check out Enlightment Space!

We’re happy to report that the following indoor parks are reopened, or in the process of reopening, and are offering discounted tickets to entice the crowds.

The following discounts are all available on WeChat mini program 侠侣亲子 (xiá lǚ qīnzǐ).

Simply follow the following steps to find the mini-program and how to go to the right category.

KidSteam 儿童乐园

KidSteam is one of the bigger local indoor playground franchises, with 14 outlets in the capital alone! I’ve personally visited two of these outlets (one at Viva Beijing in Shuangjing and another somewhere downtown when I was still new and had no idea where I was) and still remember how much I like their hand-crank train ride that the kids manually operate themselves! It’s definitely one of the iconic features of the franchise. In my opinion, their play features are best suited to ages 7 and below.

Discounted ticket price: RMB 79.9 for one parent and child for the full day
Valid for both weekends and holidays, until Feb 2023
*Multiple locations

Victory Fly Sports Center 威卡菜超级运动中心

A big thank you to expat mom Jackie Park for alerting us to this reopened trampoline park that offers a massive ball pit, a just-as-huge building blocks pit, and a 360° cycle, among many more features to entertain the kids. Kids from 5 and up will definitely enjoy this place!

Discounted ticket price: 2-hour ticket RMB 59
*An accompanying adult will have to buy another ticket at that price, but that’s still some savings!
Valid anytime until Jan 20

Find it:
Jinzhanxiang Dongyaocun Jinzhan International Sports Town VFSC
Weikalai Super Sports Center, Chaoyang district

Got toddlers with a need for speed? Then this is the place for them! With their indoor mini go-cart track, kids 4 – 11 years can perfect their driving skills at this brightly-colored indoor play hub. On top of the usual playgrounds, obstacle courses, and pretend play grocery store, it’s also got a mirror maze!
