My little one’s first birthday is coming up, and I have been thinking of ways to memorialize the day in a special way. There are baby smash cakes, celebratory jello, and maybe baby’s first refined sugar intake, but what are these moments if not captured and shared? Photos are a great way to forever embrace the most special moments the family share in celebrating the changes and progress of the little and not so little humans in our lives.

To do this, you need more than your smartphone camera to hand. Let a professional take hold of the lens and take home quality and unique images that you can cherish forever. Here are our top five Beijing based family and baby photographers who will help keep your memories alive in the most beautiful of ways.

Back in 2010 as a first-time father Hansen, went about capturing every moment of his newborn son’s life and so his passion for photographing children and families began.

Prices start from RMB 1,000 for a one-hour session, and families can choose from a number of different packages to suit their needs. (WeChat ID: dlhzao, 139 1026 8205)

Nicole Photography

Nicole Ni has been working as a family photographer in Beijing for five years and has been churning out sharply distinctive and organic photos of little ones in her Shunyi studio. There’s little that this fine photographer wouldn’t be able to capture with nuance. Ni produces artistic, vintage, and unscripted stills that will impress any family looking for something a little special. Whether to celebrate a special occasion for your little one or the whole family, or just because, you will walk away with something enchanting.

Using fairytale-like accessories, her outdoor photography sessions with newborns and young babies are particularly impressive. Sweet as honey and cute as pie with a cherry on top, Albrecht’s striking creations will have you swooning for days.

Since Twitter’s Vine decided to enter into the video social networking apps race things have been rapidly changing in the photo and video sharing apps department, with Facebook’s Instagram introducing a 15 seconds video feature that generated over five million videos within the first twenty four hours of its release as reported by Appannie.com. Here is a look at the four top video sharing apps you can enjoy with your family and friends.

1. Vine

Vine is the most downloaded non-game app according to Appannie’s June Index. The only version available this app is for smartphones in both iOs and android. Vine can be used to create short, beautiful, looping videos in a simple and fun way for your friends and family to see. This app can be used here in China without a VPN involved and can be used to share the videos on Facebook and Twitter. The app gives unlimited uploads where you can find, follow and interact with people close to you. This app is for children above 12 years.

2. Youtube

This old timer is still going on strong with a universal app available in both phone and tablet format also across iOS and android. The only draw back about this app is that you can only connect using a VPN. But the features are still the same uploading videos; easy sharing with family through Google+, Facebook, twitter and e-mail; subscribing to your favorite channels and make playlists. This is for children above 12 years.

3. Snapchat

This app has been around for two years now but it has just gained momentum with the introduction of Vine and company to the market. There is only the smartphone version available but its both on iOS and Android. This app is both a photo and video sharing networking app where a photo or a video is taken then a caption added followed by sending it to a friend (or maybe a few). They’ll view it, laugh, and then the snap disappears from the screen, this is unless your friend takes a screenshot! This app is for children above 12 years.

4. Instagram

This app has been around for sometime but only the photo sharing side. It’s available on both iOS and Android for smartphones. It helps to customize your photos and videos with one of the custom-built filter effects. It involves taking everyday pictures and transforming them into amateur works of art so as to share with friends and family. Now with the newly introduced 15- second video feature people can share both photos and videos under one app. This app requires a VPN while in China for accessibility. This app is for children above 12 years.
